A kid from Georgia is going to turn down an opportunity with the defending national champions because of eight career games he played on the other side of the rivalry?

guess not..........he was playing for the defending national champion last year though so no big deal ;)

Is this York saying "FU" to Parker for Clendening? Very interesting news. I hate to say it, but that is a good pick up for BC considering the losses at forward the Eagles look to absorb next summer.

ps- LOL. I always hated that guy as a Terrier. I have a feeling BU fans will hate him much, much more as an Eagle.

I would say that Clendening and Saponari are very different stories/circumstances. However, in both cases the coach was well within his rights to pick up the player.

Umm Section 8, you realize Vinny won't be moving to the good end of Comm Ave until next season, right? I think it is great :-)

But the real reason I opened your thread:
BU at BC game on 12/4 will be at 7:30 instead of 8:15 - still televised.

Isn't Nicastro the one who almost get kicked off the team by getting raped and abused in the Beanpot for a goal thus costing BU the game?

I guess I missed where the final score was 1-0.

You don't remember? The game ended after Shattenkirk's goal in the first. We won. You forgot already?

who would have thought something like this would EVER happen?
and , once you have worn one of the jerseys i would think it impossible to EVER put the other one on:confused:

Defenseman Bruce Milton. BU 80-81, 81-82; BC 83-84, 84-85. And a B's draft pick to boot. Better numbers at BU. Can't recall the backstory.

Just wanted to give everyone a head's up that our season preview issue came out today. Includes a team preview and features on Connolly, Nicastro and Mike Boyle. Links to all the articles are on the blog.

Nice work, especially the Connolly piece. I didn't know he was so close to quitting playing.

Two other thoughts.

- I'm still surprised that after seeing what good leadership can do for a team in 2009, last year's captains didn't try to emulate the same leadership. It is great to hear Connolly's and Parker's comments about calling people out and making them realize that there will be no tolerance for the type of behavior that was accepted last year.

- Is anyone else concerned that after it proved to be such a disaster last year (by Parker's own admissions - something like "i screwed with our system and it cost us"), the team is once again moving to this "zone" defensive system? Is this the new thing around hockey? Are other college treams using it?

First, thanks.

Second, I actually have some good quotes from Parker on the new defensive system. Give me a half hour or so to transcribe and put on the blog. Should answer any questions.

Agreed.

This is too funny, though. I imagine he'll magically figure out how to aim when he gets to BC, too. ;)

ding ding, we have a winner. have fun at the heights, Benedict.

Am I to understand that Saponari is going to play at Boston College? Haha, this is tremendous. Those games are going to be fantastic. Has a kid ever played for both BU and BC before?

If Vincent can find his hands in the ushl, this is an outstanding pickup for bc. He was great in the corners and on the boards. He wasn't afraid to go down low and had a knack for finding space and for having the puck find him. The issue was he couldn't drop the puck into the ocean if he was floating on an iceberg. Incredibly frustrating. With his position and opportunities he should have had 30 goals. On top of that he was good in his own end. Again, great pickup for coach York.
He played a big role on our championship team and I'll always wish him the best... I just hope (like always) that if he scores when we play them, we score more ;)

I think a guy like Saponari could flourish in a run and gun offensive system like the one they employ up there. It was interesting to read in that BU blog that he consulted some of his teammates and they suggested he should play at BC. I wish I was there when Parker found out. I bet he blew a gasket.

That's a bit of a stretch. Hammer's article said they were supportive through the whole process. It didn't say they suggested or urged him to play at BC or anything. There's a difference between supporting and suggesting.

I hope not, given his recent issues with gaskets.
