Re: Boston University: 2010-11 part I - "so...you're saying i get a calendar??"

Yup, Paul "Ensign" O'Neill from Charlestown (MC grad). Very fluid skater with great hands. A couple of his cousins also from Charlestown had pretty fair freshman seasons at BU:
Mike Fidler (MC) 24 goals, 24 assists in 31 games. Stayed for 2 years at BU then turned pro. Younger brother Mark (Matignon) was even more productive, 30 goals and 35 assists in 31 games.

Can't believe I forgot Mark Fidler, whose freshman year was also his best. His name popped up recently in an article about 2013 recruit Matt Grzelcyk whom Fidler coached on the Middlesex Islanders.

An entire line of first-year players who put up eye-popping numbers was comprised of Herb Wakabayashi (16-51-67), Serge Boily (29-26-55) and Mickey Gray (a paltry 24-24-48). They were sophs on the 1967 NCAA finalist team, but that was another era, without much parity. BU hit double digits six times in 31 games and came close another five times.

Haven't used it, but you could always post here or in the Tickets Forum.

That's true.

Anyone need one ticket to the home opener against UMass? Sec 115, season ticket face ($16), rep me if interested.

No NESN, no WI coverage=No TV.

Badger Hockey TV Schedule

But it appears there will be pay-per-view. A press conference today announced that Hockey Prime Time will broadcast all four games online. The news release below doesn't state the cost, but the person who forwarded the release below--and who participated in the conference call--said the cost is $9.95 combined for the four games. Sounds too good to be true.

Meanwhile, there is no information about that package on the HPT site, as of today.

Rogie, I don't have PP goals from the seventies (maybe someday...)

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone who has talked about the women's team at the new Walter Brown Arena rink on Friday, 15 October for the home opener and the raising of the banners (I'm planning to get group tickets for the game, so if you're a non-students contact me if you would like to see the game).

Your memory is pretty good. Eddie skated left wing with Herb as seniors when Gray moved back to play D. Herb was no more than 5-5, Eddie about an inch taller. They were fun to watch.

And now the link is up. $9.95 for all four games. http://ppv.hockeyprimetime.com/

Besides the Webcast, there will be in-game blogging by Justin Bourne, former player at Alaska-Fairbanks, son of NHLer Bobby Bourne and a very entertaining blogger.

I checked the site and didn't find anything, but I figured I'd ask anyway, any ideas as to if the games will be available for stream after they are played? I won't be at a computer on Friday night and would like to watch it when I get home later that night if possible.

I saw all three play. Joe (MC around '70?) was a big scorer, bomb of a shot. Mike (MC '74, a great year :D ) was the best of the 3 in my opinion. An absolute sniper, very tough to knock off the puck. Scored a hat trick against Southie in the EMass final. Played on a great line with George Hughes who went onto captain Harvard and Buddy Goodwin who later won a D2 National championship at Merrimack.
Mark was the smallest, but definitely the fastest of the 3. Led Matignon to the state title (a couple maybe?) along with Billy "Fish" Cotter (also went to BU)

ps to Sean Pickett....awesome job! Lots of local kids on that list from MC, Medford, Burlington, Winthrop. Don't see today's rosters dotted with kids who played at Mass public or catholic high schools!

Associate head coach Mike Bavis served as acting head coach in Parker's absence, while Pertti Hasanen jumped on board as an assistant coach. With Parker's return, Hasanen will now become the Director of Men's Hockey Operations.

Director of Hockey Operations?!?!

Isn't that Parker?

When did BU create a position of Director of Hockey Operations?

What does this say to Mike Bavis?

Parker said they've always had the option of having the position, but they just never have. I don't really think it affects Bavis at all, as it doesn't really have much to do with coaching. I'm not sure exactly what it entails, but I know it's a position a lot of schools have. It'll probably take some pressure off Parker, which is a good thing.

They have this in NCAA basketball too. It's the lowest ranking assistant coach and is more or less an excuse to have another coach on the bench. The title doesn't really mean much more than just Assistant Coach #3 or #4.

Not necessarily a coach. John Hegarty is Director of Hockey Ops for BC.

yeah, i remember Hughes and Fidler at MC.I went to Melrose High ( we used to be a high school hockey power back in the day:o ) . our '73 team and MC were the best but we always spit it up in the states and never got to play 'em

Re: Boston University: 2010-11 part I - "so...you're saying i get a calendar??"

Kind of a random question, but I'm looking into roadtripping to the Shilleleagh (*** spelling) tourney when I get back from study abroad and was looking at ticket prices. Apparently I can get $15 seats 5 rows up at center ice. I'm skeptical. Does anyone know if the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates is a good arena, or are these $15 seats somehow like sitting behind a pole at Fenway?

Gotta love the "Spinal Tap" reference on the CCHA preview on the home page this morning. Any opportunity to quote that movie should be seized!:D

My suggestion for tomorrow: BC to Hockey East: Smell the Glove:D
