When you put 41 shots on net and 39 get turned aside, sometimes you just have to tip your cap and get 'em next time.

This has happened the last three games (although I know one was a win) and I'm starting to think it's more a we're-taking-bad-shots than we're-facing-amazing-goalies, and it certainly won't stand as an excuse for the entire year.

The result shouldn't bother the team, but the many mistakes made in the defensive zone should.

Offensive zone was fine, but the top two lines were trying to be a little too cute with their plays.

Defensively, especially Gryba sounded horrid. That's not something we should be happy with or content with.

It's definitely possible. Too much "We're in the zone, shoot it!" mentality will result in more shots being taken than usual, even on goal, but fewer quality shots than if they set up plays. It's a fine line between making the goalie work but not getting him hot, setting up good plays but not getting too pretty, and playing gritty while not taking stupid penalties. Once this team finds that center we should see a rhythm offensively. As far as the defense goes, I hope the more experienced guys remember what they're doing and didn't get lazy in the off-season because they'd already won it all.

Defending
triple crown
champions
Not to quibble, but isn't it "septupal crown"?

Even that year that Maine almost ran the table, they didn't have seven titles did they? I wonder if any other team has ever come close.

PS About last night, the optimist in me wants to say, just like last year, BU starts with 1 goal loss on the road, playing on a big surface. The realist says, yeah, but that was after schooling NoDak, MSU, and the Wolverines. Someplace in between those two points of view, I'm willing to be patient.

totally unrelated, but thought to mention:
BBennett played yesterday in a loss to ColCollege (3 GA on 23). Just curious, does anyone know if he's the out-and-out starter for the badgers?

no. they are not defending any ice breaker, nor denver cup title. i don't recognize any "regional" crown:p ;) . HE reg season is nice i guess, but that doesn't even merit it's own banner.

:D

Neither does the beanpot:p

and don't discount the fact that since the beginning of the beanpot, no participating school has won the national tournament without first winning the february tourney.;)

:D

So then wouldn't stating we won the beanpot in '09 be redundant?;) :)

Last night was an example of vintage Parker getting his team ready for the first weeks of the season. I hope everyday he prays to the pictures of messrs Gilroy, Wilson, Higgy, JLaw, and Yip because they bought him another 5 to 10 years of a free ride. Time to resume 21st century futility and medicocrity.
