Hahahahahahaha. That's Epic Photo? You constantly defended something you hadn't seen.

Nothing Epic about that. Bet Gibber has some much better BU Hockey Photos.

It's nice, but nothing epic about it.

This post, or rather the tone, was completely unnecessary.

The way she was acting made it seem like she thought she was as good as these people. And really, calling you out for being a ridiculous tool over the whole thing and the way you acted puts me on a high horse? Please.

This post is not just unnecessary, but uncalled for. And I'm going to answer Yes to your question. Because it does. Sorry. That's just how I see it.

In defense of the Epic Photo, I don't really think any national championship team photo could live up the hype that has built around this thing over the course of the last four months.

Exactly.

Back to fun stuff, The Wall Street Journal will be running an article on the Jack/Jerry rivalry. Probably more of the same, but wow, the Wall Street Journal? I think that's pretty neat.

Is it in today's paper? I might have to go steal one of the ones outside my building..

I finished "Burn the Boats" a couple of days ago, and I just want to say how great it was. It was amazing to relive the season an get some behind the scenes info as well. Reading about the championship game definitely gave me goosebumps, and right after I got them, there was a quote from a player (Gryba, Z.Cohen maybe?) saying he gets goosebumps whenever he watches the comeback over. We are really lucky to have such a detailed retelling to always help us reflect on our memories of the 2008-09 season.

Thank you, Scott.

Thanks so much for the kind words about the book! The feedback has been very gratifying so far, and the orders are coming in at an impressive pace so far.

It was especially satisfying to write about those last few minutes of regulation in the championship game--just trying to capture everyone's thoughts as well as all the action. If it were fiction, no one would believe it all.

Thanks again,
SW

No, I don't think the article will appear till some time in November. I'll try to get a publication date.

Really last-minute, but anyone have an extra seat for UMass tomorrow night? Have a friend looking for a ride. My truck's full. Shoot me an email (scottm89@bu.edu).

Providence tops Notre Dame, 3-2.

See you tuesday.

The teams are ready, so

After losses to UAH and the Friars, Jackson should have ND breathing fire on Tuesday night. But let's focus first on UMass and avoid looking ahead.

A few too many defensive breakdowns and laziness in BU's own end tonight. Shattenkirk, Cohen, and Gryba each lost a puck that led to a breakaway or odd-man rush. Millan came up big several times and so did Dainton. (Millan also got lazy on a dinky pass to a defenseman and should have been beat.) BU dominated play for random 3 or 4 minute spurts throughout the game only to inexplicably give UMass super grade A chances. UMass was more opportunistic than anything and probably would have won by two or three if they didn't wiff on a few yawning nets.

That being said, the powerplay was pretty sharp except for that last opportunity late in the third. I really, really liked the Megan-Trivino-Chiasson line... created a lot of chances for themselves- lots of skill there. Bonino was the best player of the ice, I thought. In the second period he went in alone between the right dot and the slot and got stoned but other than that he played great both ways. Nicastro and Escobedo were paired together toward the end of the game and played well.

that late PP disturbed me more than anything. in crunch-time there were inexplicable mental mistakes, passes to no one, guys running into one another which made for by far the worst PP of the night. the fact that it came in the final minutes while down 1 was something that lingered with me on the way home.

To be honest, I was expecting a slow start for this team, but because of the underclassmen and returning players that had to move up to bigger roles in the depth charts. Veteran mistakes are more inexcusable and unexpected, but hopefully simple to correct.
