Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

what's the crease violation rule here?
I had a good view of this goal and Kieran was desperately trying to get across, but he was (obviously) blocked. His anticipation was pretty good, he just wasn't allowed to execute.

Nearly the exact same thing happened on an early goal @Merrimack and Kieran really lost focus at the time, imo. He spent a lot of time complaining to the ref and never seemed to regain his edge. Wonder if the coaches talked to him about that, because he only gave a half-hearted argument to the ref last night and then seemed to let it go.

there is no reason to steal it
 Sure, he made a mistake- he shared a photo all 6 us of here have already seen. But I think everyone who is aware respects your property, and those who are not might be treated as something other than a criminal unless they are a habitual abuser.

I'm not sure your response is the best way to engender support for your work.

I hope you're right on the Gilroy/JLo comparison, but I think Gilroy is very similar to Eric Thomassian in the following ways:

1. They were both older players who were amongst the leading scorers in the EJHL.
2. They're not good enough defensively to specialize in that type of role (like a Popko, John McCarthy, or Mark Mullen)
3. They don't have quite enough high-end skill that warrants regular playing time on one of the top 2 lines. However, it can be argued that neither Thomassian nor Gilroy have really had an opportunity to step up besides being fill-in players in an offensive role when someone gets hurt.

I will say that Gilroy plays w/ more grit than Thomo and thus may have more ability to adapt his game to the role he's asked to play right now.

Good post. I'll also have to reluctantly agree. I like his hustle and although we haven't seen it reflected in the stats, he seems to have the bearing of a scorer. But no way he approaches Lawrence levels. I could see him becoming a little like McCarthy but with inferior defense and checking, and maybe (hopefully) somewhat superior scoring.

B. Do I know you? It's not a bad thing if I don't, as I've "met" a bunch of people here before before becoming friends with them in person, I'm just curious.

do you know me, know me? no.. we've met a couple times, one was up in maine, last yr... valentine's day... we tied maine 2-2. i'm usually in a BU jersey w/ nothing on the back, or a black BU hoodie... and i always have my bu hat on w/ the sticks crossed behind the terrier.

i'm always there w/ my buddy mac, who has season tix, but we usually travel for most away games.

I have no problem with her wanting to drive more visitors to her blog and not having her property hosted at a different site. I saw the picture on facebook and haven't check her blog yet today, and I wasn't going to link to facebook from here for those who don't have it. I'm at work now and the filter blogs image sites (but not uscho, score;) ) so I couldn't delete the image from the host yet so I just deleted the post.

Back off mwade. She is entitled to her hard work not being linked that way. Agganis understood.

Nice work this week, mwade.

Matt Gilroy just got in a fight in the Rangers/Panthers game. Went after someone for a blindside hit on a teammate and got 17 minutes of penalties. Also totally lost the fight, but was kinda cool to see.

Get ready for today's random post of the day.

I just realized that the quote in your sig not only applies to hockey, but to photography as well. Very clever double entendre.

Just to be clear, I posed the Gilroy/Lawrence thing as a question, not an opinion. I don't see the team enough in person to be able to have an educated opinion on something like that. I rely on the posters here who are at the games regularly.

And while we are on the topic - and it being just about Thanksgiving - my thanks to all of you who provide so much info and analysis to people like me who can't be at the games too often. Luckily for me, Sat. night at MSG will be an exception.

:D I actually put it up on the wall with a photography exhibit for a portfolio review at BU last year and only got slightly made fun of by my friends for it. My photography professor thought it was great.
