Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One
probably true, but the true judgment of this team shouldn't come until at least Beanpot time. hopefully injuries will be healed by then and the progression of the younger players and the new lines will be closer to coming full circle. i said after the first exhibition game that this team is going to be a second half of the season team. there have been some promising signs over the last few games along with some things that need to be worked on. certainly splitting with lowell in a very even series without our best scorer is nothing to scoff at, chiasson looks like an early candidate for HE ROY, and the hustle play of the freshman has been very good. lazy defensive play needs to be fixed - this came back to bite us a few times against lowell, our puck awareness has been lacking as well. Popko stands out the most from this past weekend, where his head would be flying around because he had no clue where the puck was, as well as a few others who'd get caught flatfooted because they lost sight of where the puck was.
in short, rankings mean nothing with respect to this team (really ever) until they learn to gel and play with each other and everyone hopefully heals up.
A more realistic spot given where BU is right now. In fact I would say around #10. It will set the team's heads back on straight and a gives this young team some goals to move back up on their own merit instead of on last year's accomplishments.
