Does anyone need a ticket to the game up at Orono? I bought one and can't go now.

Your logic is bass ackward here. If you thought most of it included material pre 2004, wouldn't that make you the target audience? You know, if you look at it as a learning/history excercise. Why would you prefer something that just goes over stuff you lived/know?
No, Bomber, I do not think my logic is "bass ackward" as you so eloquently put it. Other than the Kelleher recruiting battle/ BU/BC in the same family, nothing is really done in too much detail (at least not to the detail of that story), so besides that there isn't too much for a post 2004 fellow like myself to learn besides 1) BC had four coaches, two really good two really bad, before York, 2) Jack Kelley started recruiting Canadians to jumpstart BU's program, 3) BU/BC played in the 1978 national title game (although his I already knew). To me, outside of the Kelleher story, mostly everything else is mentioned just enough to jog the memories of the "oldtimers" who view the DVD as well (and by no means do I say oldtimers degradingly). For example, they didn't really show too many highlights from the 2006 regional final, 5-0 shutout loss to BC, but just mention and brief coverage they did of it helped remind and reopen old wounds. I bet someone like yourself started reminiscing while watching the DVD.

Another complaint I have about the DVD, and support for my argument that the DVD is very pro-BC. It's nice and all that they did that little piece on the BC fight song, but why no mention of the BU fight song? They go onto mention how it got annoying because they played it after every single BC goal, seems like a perfect segway to talking about BU fans recently saying "**** em up, **** em up, BC Sucks" after every goal, and later being disciplined by the school after the 2006 regional final to no longer "be allowed" to say it. A chant that incorporates BC sucks, and was so integral to the fan experience (at least while I was at school), to me at least, seems like it has something to do with the "battle of comm ave."

I did not find it pro-BC or think it covered BC more than BU (actually I thought more time was spent on BU-related stuff). However, I do think covering that chant would be important as it is one way to encompass the extent of the rivalry from this side.

The 'Well, I wanted to go to BC, but they didn't offer me anything so I went to BU and held a grudge, grrr' and vice versa stuff doesn't exactly describe the emotions of the rivalry.

Yeah, it seemed to be way more BU focused.

Another thing I would have liked to see was the fact that BC played all its home games at WBA when Conte was being built, how that came about, etc. And how, even though the two schools are such heated rivals, when the chips are down, they are there for each other. Like when JP McKersie had his accident and needed to be airlifted back to Madison, the Pike's Peak Club (I think - maybe it was just the BC athletic department) donated money towards the cost. That always impressed me.

fabulous BU Hockey game tonight. 20 hands on deck.

Very well played game all-around for both teams except our lack of ability to clear the zone on a few key occasions. A good deal of that has to do with Lowell's skill at keeping the puck in the zone, but we also made some lazy clearing attempts. To net 5 goals when the lines were clearly shuffled and guys at times were running into each other and weren't sure where the other was going is a great sign. We potted most of our big opportunities tonight - something we didn't do vs. ND.

also that might be one of the best performances i've seen by a goalie who gave up 4 goals. Millan stopped a bunch of high quality shots from UML.

This.

And also, faceoffs. Something to work on in practice.

That said, big win tonight. I would have been happy with getting out of there with just a point, even after coughing up the lead.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

I believe Bernie said Lowell's power play was around 28% going into tonight, so killing all five penalties (stopping 10 shots) and scoring a shortie is another positive from the win.

whole lotta positives tonight.

Pops even pulled back some faceoffs tonight!! (some...:p )

he just continues to shine defensively and on the kill.... and be useless in the attacking zone. but i luv him for who he is! (mancrush, i know.)

28.6%. And they had scored at least one PP goal in each of their first four games.

I would think it humerous if tonight the openning video stalled on the HE Champions segment. You know, technical difficulties beyond our control. :)
