Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

and scarlet.... at the next FOH meeting you have to find out WHY WE DON'T HAVE A CAMERA THAT GIVES US AN OVERHEAD SHOT OF THE GOAL LINE FOR REPLAYS!!!!!! exposed trusses. mount two cameras! so easy...

that is something FOH should foot immediately, because the stupid world class arena doesn't.

(and is dean elmore independently wealthy? saw a car service stop in front of HAA before the game and a suited driver with hat jumped out and ran around to open the door for our dos. if the school is paying for that ( ), there is the replay camera $$$ right there  . if the dean is loaded, maybe he can donate the equipment:p )

A tough, gritty win by BU last night. It was good to see. Not a perfect game by any stretch, but a solid one against a good team.

They do have an overhead camera. I could see them using it during the review. They just didn't show it on the jumbotron.

Game highlights are up on the GoTerriers.com site. http://all-access.cbssports.com/player.html?code=bost&media=146670

I didn't get to watch last night b/c this was a special All-Access PPV game, not part of the the monthly or yearly package. Would've been nice to make that known before the game.

Pereira's GWG was very similar to a play last week in the Rangers-Devils game. During a dump-in/line change, Martin Brodeur was very casually going for a puck behind his net and underestimated the speed of Marian Gaborik who took the puck away and might've scored into an empty net, but for a late-arriving D-man.

Here's a thought - make that your donation to the FOH. They can name after you and everything. :)

Ah, well then. Never mind. mookie, you should thank FL. He just saved you a pricey donation.

when did those go up? are they behind the speakers on 108 side?

how come those are never used on the jumbletron? i would have loved to see KM come right and kick out that shot while UM was on the PP in front of 118 last night. there were players in my way ( ) and those guys never move!

did not Jim Prior say "inconclusive" last night? i'd then guess the goalies glove was right ON the goal line under the bar. otherwise it's usually pretty easy to see.

I have no idea where the cameras are mounted or why they don't show that view on the 'tron, but they definitely have them. Last night's review was indeed ruled "inconclusive", but I've seen NHL games where they ruled inconclusive even with an overhead view, so it's not unheard of. My guess is his glove was right on the line and they couldn't tell what part of the glove the puck was in.

yah... what i typed. i've seen bodies in front hanging around that cloud the view. there was nobody around the crease though there.

pretty impressive anyway for the UM goalie to reach over and get the glove up to get the puck.

during live action i first though Warso had a little whiff and slid it to the goalie. the replay they had showed he did in fact get it up and the goalie caught it.

oh well.

My cousin just texted me that there's now a congratulations sign for BU on the Mass Pike. Must be relatively new. Has anyone else seen it?

Is your cousin one of those evil people who confuse BU and BC on a regular basis (a la Barry Melrose)?

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

I believe every HE school now has the overhead cameras - a few are still working out the kinks. I know one had them, but didn't have the feed running properly to ice level so someone reviewed upstairs and called down at their first game, but I'm pretty sure I read last season or year before that they all had to get them.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

Just some thoughts on last night's game:

--Millan looked great, save for UM's first goal. He was flashing his pads out very quickly and adjusted very well to some deflected shots. I can't blame him for the second goal. Rust sniped that one.

--LOVED the physical play. I feel like ND pushed us around a lot. We didn't finish checks or pressure defensemen in the corners (except for Z.Cohen). This game, we were playing the body much more. I want to see this continue, as well as making sure the physicality doesn't turn into penalties.

--PK looked great, even without Popko. We didn't let up that many great chances, even on the 5-on-3, and Millan was there with some great saves when we did.

--The whole team looked much more cohesive and the lines more fluid compared to the ND game. Even when Bonino left, I didn't think we faltered as much as I expected.

Random stuff:

--Colby's slapshot from the slot was totally unfair. 15 feet out and with 3 seconds to wind up? I felt bad for Hogan.

--BU Band on ice? Loved it! Bring it to the Garden!

--I usually don't get on the refs too much, being a ref myself, but this makes two straight games of what I thought as sub-par officiating. Some of the calls were clean plays (the hip check on Z.Cohen) and other times the refs needed to conference just to get on the same page with each other. I know the refs wanted to keep the game from devolving into a slugfest, but they looked bad out there.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

Nice to see the team come out with much more jump in their step. Tough luck on the Bonino injury. I have concerns about the ability of this team to score in 5-on-5. Great hustle by Periera.

Very glad we aren't 0-3.

They were calling everything super tight (including offsides, hand passes, etc.), which led to more than 1 penalty which wasn't a penalty. When we got that penalty shortly after their major when someone (forget who) got checked into Hogan, I almost lost my ****.

Agreed. Good to see the effort last night, but BU could have easily been 0-3.

Would love to see them stick it to Lowell twice next week but with Bonino gone it will be a tough task. Depending on mostly sophomores and freshmen this early in the season is not a good thing. A lot of flashes of talent, but they are having a problem putting it all together.

Great game by Millan after a couple of shaky starts. Lets see this continue..

Loved the nice clean hip check, even if it came at the expense of a BU player. Haven't seen anything like that since Dan Ronan. No way was that a penalty. Is it becoming against the rules to check anyone in the NCAA anymore?

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

I didn't even notice Bonino was missing until a stretch in the third period when we were killing several penalties and I noticed he wasn't getting in on the PK. Guess that tells you how he has been playing this year.

I agree the returning players largely have either regressed or flatlined while the freshmen have been very promising. but last night there was noticeable improvement over the ND game. millan was on his game for the whole night save the one flub, the PK was fantastic especially killing a 2 minute 4 on 3 without one of our top PK guys, and for the most part guys were skating very hard (esp. #6 but that's not unusual) and looked like they were hungry for that W.

don't forget this game keeps us out of a dismal PWR situation against CCHA teams.
