Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread III: From the Beanpot until the end...

Unless I missed it, I'm surprised there have been not comments on the swap of the centers. Absolutely loved Bonino with Perriera and Gaudet. Gaudet is a pleasant surprise although he wasn't out last year due to lack of playing ability, he had several dislocated shoulders thoughtout the year that kept him out of the line up. Which brings me to something interesting JP said in the press conference that I'd been wondering about. For the first time I can remember he didn't refer to Gaudet as a sophomore but rather a red shirt freshman. Good news for he future as I don't believe he was drafted and may be here 3 more years. Great effort tonight, again loved what I saw from the two new lines and the energy that seemed to come from it.

Wow, the podcast highlights are up already. The game ended, what, 3 hours ago? Amazing. :)

Are there video clips of the game posted anywhere? My eyes were wide open but I still don't know how Dainton stopped that Shattenkirk blast.

And, not that it matters, on UMass's second goal, that sure looked like a handpass to me.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread III: From the Beanpot until the end...

So BU claims there is a viewing location for the Beanpot in Stamford, CT (the closest one to me). But I have a feeling that if I show up there, it will just be me watching, in which case I could go to a local bar and do the same thing. Has anyone had any experiences with these Viewing Location things?

assuming BU can take care of business Fri, they need to hope UHN plays well (since they own the tiebreaker anyhows :p ), the Mack continues to play well at home, and PC somehow performs a miracle:eek:

BU Hockey: 5-2-0 in '10.
let's not go and start sucking each others popsicles just yet...

Hey, it's superstition now. I'll stop pointing it out when it stops working! :D

I get the BU Athletic Dept's podcast. I signed up through iTunes. AFWIW, the highlights this time were pretty basic; that play you're asking about wasn't in there.

"Ugh. What a frustrating loss tonight. Duluth came out hard as everyone figured they would and the Badgers had no answer. Junior goaltender Brett Bennett was pulled after giving up two goals on the first three shots of the game for Duluth and Wisconsin simply could not answer. " From the noalibisnoregrets.blogspot.com., A Wisconsin hockey blog. Anyone wish to share a sip of schadenfreude?

The games yesterday went pretty well for us though, no?

Nicastro and Gaudet, both good surprises.

Chiasson - Has to come on strong in the 'pot to maintain his status, otherwise he is a slight disappointment.

Can't see how Warsofsky avoids getting an A or even a C next season. He is always going 110 pct.

perhaps you missed where Wisconsin is a #1 seed and bu is not in the tournament, or where Bennett's wins, GAA, and save% would place him first on bu in all 3.

If Bennett was still at BU, he would not be be playing regularly. Any turnaround he's had was a change of scenery/coaching that didn't work out here.

Perhaps you're also assuming that goalie stats merely could carry over between two different teams in front of them, but you're just being intentionally shallow to rain on our parade of raining of Bennett's parade for raining on our parade 2 years ago.

This is kind of old news but were there any highlights posted of the BU-BC game at Conte?

If you read my comment you'd be hard pressed to find anything negative about the Badger hockey team, or BU's (mediocre) season. If you're going to play with statistics (aka **** lies) you should note that BB has a very mediocre 7-5 won-loss record and is almost a half point higher in GAA than Gudmandson. FWIW, Wisconsin may be a legit Frozen Four team (Denver is the class of the WCHA ) but it ain't due to its goaltending. My suggestion to you is you shouldn't be so quick to jump into an old man's s--t. Bennett's performance at BU left a bad taste in the mouths of many. If you read any of the news reports or the Wisconsin hockey blogs, the reports of BB's unfocused play brought back bad memories. Maybe he has improved some. I'll leave that for Eaves to decide. As for you, pop a xanax, sit back and watch your BC squad ( which I've never criticized ). They've got a great group of forwards but will go only as far as their defense and goaltending ( sound familiar?) take them.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread III: From the Beanpot until the end...

Millan tonight, no?

My question is, IF whoever plays tonight has a good game, what does Parker do about next week, in terms of rotation?

I know the other goalie could get the Lowell game, but will he continue to stick with whoever is hot?

I'm not sure. Really, Rollie hasn't shown much promise of late whereas Millan was spectacular against UMass and looked fundamentally sharp for the most part against BC. I think what it would come down to is who does the team play the most confidently in front of. That was always the issue with Bennett, no one felt confident that he'd make the big save when he had to so the D would overcompensate and try to force bad shots which inherently lead to mistakes and even better opportunities that Floppy let in. Last year, clearly there was a lot of confidence in Millan, coupled with strong D pairings that didn't feel the need to overcompensate and try to take away shots, they were much more content letting the shooter get off an average shot at the net which Millan ate up or the D cleared most of the time. This year has kind of been a mixed bag, but in the previous couple of games Millan has looked much improved to how he was in November.
