Well...serves me right for getting my hopes up after the first two games of this month.

Okay, who wants to mail a brochure to Del Boca Vista retirement community or whatever that place Seinfeld's parents lived in to Jack Parker.... :D

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

A few observations:

What's up with the "Red Hot Hockey" patches still on the away sweaters?

Why did our defensemen tip the puck past Kieran twice? That's PC's job, no?

How come nobody went to the front of the net?

and finally...

I've changed my thoughts on Saponari and Trivino, I think they should go pro, like tomorrow.

Plus side: I thought Kieran had a mostly solid game. He was squared to shooters and for the most part controlled his rebounds well. I also am convinced that two goals were tipped in by a BU stick, so that plus a very nice shot on a breakaway, and I have trouble being down on him at all.

Down side: Well, one of them. Our powerplay was TERRIBLE. 5 statues on the ice. It could've been a 5 on 2 and they could've defended it well. By passing amongst stationary forwards and point men, it didnt require the PK men to really do much or move at all. Also what is with our insistence to take shots from 3 feet above the goal line? Are they aware a blindfolded goalie would stop 9 out of 10 of those shots from horrible angles?

I thought the effort was there. This team just doesn't have enough skill up front. Simple as that. With a decent set of forwards, and a little less bad luck (deflections into our net), we win 4-2. This team has two legitimate scoring threats (Bonino, Chiasson), with Megan having the potential to develop into one. Saponari has hands of stone and should be on the 4th line, where his grit will be what we most appreciate. Zach puts in the effort, but on a good team he is no higher than a 3rd liner. I still think Trivino could turn into a contributor, but on a team that is desperate for it, he's a disappointment.

I thought Chiasson had an outstanding game. Nicastro also showed more confidence and speed than I have seen from him.

We are fine on d and in net. We just don't have the talent up front.

Sophomore class = major disappointment (Aside from Warsofsky and Millan, to a lesser extent).

-you mean gryba's and ccohen's goals? :p

-it was like they studied the bc 5x3 pp from the fenway game and thought, "with a little more passing that might work..."

nicastro's fumble led to the only pc goal that came off their stick.

Sophomore class = major disappointment

but, THAT'S ALL WE HAVE!!!!

FAIL!

*Shaking head and walking away*

BU Hockey: Fore!

PS: Two or three "good wins" are all that's left to enjoy this season. That and saving $$$ on post season tickets.

Thinking back to a past topic, why is it in the opinion of the Terrier faithful and other HE school's fans that BU has so few local Massachusetts kids playing for them now?

Do the local coaches know something we don't?

Because BC gets all the local blue chippahs.

Two of those goals were definitely tipped by BU defenders. The second one took a huge skip up off Colby Cohen's stick, and though I didn't see the other, Parker said after the game it bounced off one of his own players.

The breakaway goal was one Kieran probably should've had. Yes, he was left out to dry by his defensemen (Warsofsky and Nicastro, in this case), but he was way too far in his own net. The shot was from an awful angle –– shot chart showed it outside and below the left faceoff dot. That shot should never beat him high-right.

Otherwise, though, I agree with your assessment Slurpee. Millan is playing as well as he should have to to win games behind a good team.

Not sure I'd call Connolly a disappointment either, for what it's worth. Although he has been mighty quiet as of late.
