Rangers-Caps at Citi Field next year. Calling it now.

Moving Red Hot Hockey there would be awesome, but the rumor is that Cornell will be playing Northeastern at MSG next year. Perhaps Cornell would do 2 games in NYC? We know their fans would fill the stands for both.

I'm betting on Toronto-Montreal in Montreal's Olympic Stadium for next year's Winter Festival. We've got to get a game in the home of hockey sooner than later.:)

cbc may want one, but for us television on nbc it will always have to be us teams in us cities.

I was more impressed by the hustle than the actual win. They played like they cared,
Good effort and nice to get a win.
the effort was there throughout

Hey, now these are the kind of post-game comments I like to see.

he said later he knew they weren't brothers

Someone must have said this, but maybe he meant, you know, tribal-wise. :p

[i plant my flag in carly's camp :) ]

I bet you do.

On second thought, in regard to BU possibly playing Cornell at Citi Field next year, I'd rather see BU play at Lynah as has been previously discussed/rumored.

Re Hokydad's calling James Taylor a clown and Scarlet's response below;

I'm just....wow. I'm at a loss here.

HD must not be a Bostonian who lived in the area in the '70s or '80s.

I remember when Bob Marley *opened* for JT at HArvard Stadium back in the day.

Citi Field would be a strong possibility as well... but... if they did this... I'm betting it would be 2 New York area teams... Rangers / Devils or Rangers / Islanders.

For further discussion on this... maybe I should start a "Winter Classic" thread so as not to take over the BU one!

Milan is a major concern to me. He still doesn't look right. This team may need to sore 7 a lot in the 2nd half if they want to win.

He is overcommitting to a lot of chances, but what we really need is consistently strong defense several game in a row to help restore the confidence of our goalies, and hopefully he and Rollie will feel more comfortable back there and put up the stats we were expecting in doing so.

Both of Colby goals came from the exact same spot.

95% of Colby's goals come from that spot. And he hardly ever misses from there.

P.S. If he can practice enough to never miss the net from 50 ft, can we get Saponari to practice more from 2 ft out?

I was sitting in the band section and actually heard Chris Parks say 'woooah, what song is this?' :) Great win though. The Gryba shortie was easily my favorite highlight.

BU's video podcast is up on their site, but I uploaded some of the ESPNU highlights from my recording of it. Just all the goals, haven't had time to search for other big plays at the moment.

I dont think so for Citi Field, the venue is not really that appealing. Not only is it in the middle of a marsh and next to an airport, it's a ***** to get to if you're not coming from LI. Some have speculated playing the game at the Meadowlands with NYR-NJ, but of course they want Ovechkin in this thing. As far as Canada, it seems they want to do 2 games with one in Canada. The bowl game obviously throws a wrench into Yankee Stadium which is the site the NHL probably would want most in NYC, but who knows. They could always go to Minnesota or somewhere else. Tough to see it in DC, FedEx field is wayyy too big at 91K and the Nationals Park seems rather eh.

Plus, DC could be a little too warm. Don't wanna plan it there and then have it be in the 50s for a week leading up to it. One of my favorite ideas is Flyers-Pens at Beaver Stadium. That would sell out, despite the fact that some people would be approximately a mile and a half from the ice. Since the Pens and Flyers have both been in a Winter Classic already, though, I think Citi or the new Giants Stadium would be more likely for next year.

the point was made somewhere on tv that the idea of a football stadium blows because there is not enough prep time available. and with two teams using giants stadium there will most certainly not be enough.

looks like baseball parks is the way to go. you can have all the time you need there in dec/jan

Ralph Wilson Stadim sold out... and that must hold 70K+.... I think DC could be boarderline as far as how far south they would / could send this game because of temperature possibilities.

Flyers were reluctant to participate this year because of their desire for that game, but the NHL said this would not preclude it from happening relatively soon. Won't be next year of course. Canada also wants in on the action, possibly some doubleheaders (at separate venues).

Mentioned this in the NHL thread, but I can't think of a single venue that would measure up to the last two. Other than maybe Central Park.

But Central Park can't work because of the logistics nightmare of getting fans there.

but consider there are far more hockey fans in upstate new york/western pa than there are in the DC area. They want this event to be 100% sold out every time, so empty seats in the largest venue in the NFL doesn't look so hot. plus the point that was made that going baseball allows them plenty of time to get the ice down and get it right whereas in an nfl stadium theyre going to be scrambling. the other option if they want higher capacity would be to go to a college football stadium since their regular season ends in early december. problem is, there aren't many near nhl teams in colder climates.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread II: Still got a pulse, time for CPR

Bettman actually hinted that this was basically a logistical impossibility because they'd basically have to build their own infrastructure.

I know the NHL did something crazy like this in Vegas for an exhibition game in the early 90s. It was Kings against somebody right after Gretzky left Edmonton. I don't know how many people they put there for that, though, but the fact that they got a rink going in Vegas is kind of bewildering. I have no idea about the conditions, etc., for that -- I've just watched some of it on the NHL Network when it's been on.

Regarding some of the comments made about Millan, for what it's worth, I asked Colby Cohen after the game if he's seen a change in Millan's focus, to which Cohen gave an emphatic, "Yes." The exact quote was something to the effect that Millan seems to "want it" more since coming back from break. I'm working on getting the audio from the press conference on the blog, I'll let you all know if/when I get that up.
