Boston College Women's Hockey, '13-'14: Can we please have a title this time? Please?

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey, '13-'14: Can we please have a title this time? Ple

Never said that. Merely adding another viewpoint/angle.

Didn't think a wink, wink / nudge, nudge was necessary, but my attempted sarcasm was by way of completely endorsing your sentiments about what's "on the plate" of these collegians. In fact, this shared feeling (viewpoint/angle) is what made me feel driven to post on this forum in the first place. Enjoy the game, and give these young women a break, says I, to those (few, I grant you) who like to make pronouncements all the time! (From all the others, I learn one hell of a lot.)

(Will have to master the veteran posters' adroit use of smilies to forestall future misunderstandings.) :)

Here's a rather lengthy midseason recap if you're looking for some reading material:

Fun read. I think Syracuse is a better team than you apparently do, even with the loss to Lindenwood. I'd say the Orange are better than anyone in Hockey East whose name does not include "Boston". They've lost to UNH and PC, but have still managed to go 5-2 versus Hockey East opponents.

They also beat us too, so I should probably have a little more RESPECK

I think the tie with Princeton was if anything worse than the loss to Syracuse -- or rather, looking simply at the result it was worse, though the 4-1 score to Syracuse was pretty bad.

I was just reading the title to this thread and I have an answer for you, No! :) But good luck

Joe is too modest to post the BC Interruption story, so here it is: http://www.bcinterruption.com/2014/...-botolph-street-bc-womens-hockey-rallies-past

Today, like yesterday, the passing was not particularly crisp and the energy was not right up there until the last few minutes of the third period. There were lot of drop passes for some reason, not all of which worked. Claire Santostefano from NU took what seemed to be a nasty leg injury towards the end of the second: that was clearly the turning point, NU have only 15 skaters anyway and only three centers, so bringing them down to two stretched them a bit thinner than they can cope with. So BC got out of jail, although in fairness they played more cohesively as the game went on and brought a lot of energy to the second half of the third. Northeastern, though, continued to have a good PK and some bursts of speed up front and looked overall much better than their HE standings indicate.

Lines today: Skarupa-Wasylk-Leary, who has really shone this season; Anastos-Field-McLean; Bizarri-Capizzano-Trivigno (the Italian line, a lot of black ponytails on this one). Doherty, Grieves and Lemieux all dressed but didn't play, and Kickham dressed but didn't play on D. Doherty has been solid all season; I expect that in a more intense game she would have seen some ice time to give some of the others a rest. I suspect that McLean was injured or sick in November and is now back to full health; she fits in nicely on the Field line. I also wonder if Skarupa is sick or injured at the moment: she's usually the team leader in shots on goal (13 against Harvard!) but today she was in seventh place with only 3 SOG and both today and (particularly) yesterday she seemed uncharacteristically tentative to me.

...Skarupa-Wasylk-Leary...
I'm not usually one to keep up with lines so I'm not sure if this has occured already, but I want to see a Field-Anastos-Skarupa superline.

I'm not usually a superline kind of guy but it's working really well for the men's team.

I haven't seen that line yet. The four games that Field and Skarupa were together they were with Trivigno.

Actually only three, now I check : Yale, Dartmouth, Syracuse. After Syracuse it was back to the drawing board.
Hm. Mixed results there. We won the Dartmouth game 7-2 but look at the SOG in those other two games:

BC 47 (Skarupa line: 15 shots)
Yale 28

BC 44 (Skarupa line: 16 shots... Skarupa herself had 12 (!!) that game)
Syracuse 25

Skarupa is a shot monster, always has been. That was one reason why I was surprised to see her with only three in the Sunday game. You can't judge the effectiveness of her lines from how many shots she gets.
