Re: Boston College Women's Hockey '10: Thunstromian Dominance
Well, that was abysmal.
The period started much more even than it ended. After Clarkson scored their first goal (5 hole), BC really seemed to play scared. Clarkson's second goal game about 12 seconds into their power play on a really nice couple of passes. The third goal was a scrummy thing that sneaked in before the net came off.
In all, Clarkson dominated the end of the period. BC's offensive attack was nonexistent. We had one shot with a reasonable chance of going in and one without much on it. We were set up in Clarkson's end for maybe 30 seconds of the period, total.
The lone bright spots in the period were Motherwell and Bolden each breaking up a potential breakaway by swatting the puck away while behind the skater and not drawing a penalty.
I hate to say it, but they look EXACTLY the way they played the last time they were without Schaus, against Dartmouth last year. Literally NO offensive threat, because they're playing scared. I don't know if that's their mentality or not, but that's what it looks like.
My hope is that they are rusty, since they haven't played any exhibition games or anything, and since their ice time was probably more limited than they would have liked, with Conte not having the ice down.
If there were ever a situation where they would get better as the game went on, this would hopefully be it.
Also, Clarkson's band is horrendous. For God's sake. Is that an ECAC thing?
