Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again
I know the site of the accident very well (as do many here) and if the train was going 35 miles per hour in the spot, that's startling. I'm not going to say the hockey kids are angels, but let's not pretend they kidnapped the Lindbergh Baby here either. College kids drink, pure and simple. The fact that they didn't drive drunk (even on the short drive from Applebees to campus) is a good thing because Im not sure how many other people would have done that.
That is nice to see but it is absurd to use the word "designated driver", with the ones doing the drinking doing so illegally and under age, and in direct violation to the schools and hockey teams rules and codes.
This quote says it all. "detectives found the vehicle strewn with beer cans and a bottle of vodka"
She did not make an illegal turn and was not drunk. Very happy to hear that. Thank God she and no one else got hurt. It is though sad to think a nice girl was on more than one occasion being used to drive drunk under age kids around.
Not one of the hockey players in this instance is a victim.
I don't think anyone is surprised that the T driver was partly to blame and that he has a checkered driving record. Almost would have expected it. Always shocked there are not more accidents on Comm ave
Good lesson for all involved to not put yourself in a situation to fail, which this clearly was.
If they had been pulled over for a busted tail light, the charges vs the players would be exactly the same in regards to the hockey players, of course within the school and hockey team as well. None of them were charged with a single driving violation.
