Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Sorry guys, as fans you never want to hear about weird stuff like this.

Please don't rush to blame one player over any of the others, we don't know what happened yet.

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Having been there back in the day, it's hard for me to call what they did stupid. .

I don't know if you were a scholarship athlete or not in a revenue sport, but you can't compare scholarship athlete behavior to regular student behavior. They get measured on different scales, because athletes are higher profile risks to university's reputation and they also get benefits that other student's don't get. They are held to a higher standard of conduct.

When you play for a coach as good and an honorable as Jerry York, and you go to a good school like BC, you know exactly what is permissable and what is not.

These guys were stupid in the following ways:
-Drinking underage in public
-Fleeing
-Breaking team, department, school and likely state rules
-Ignoring whatever training they were almost certainly given

I inferred that the driver was sober because she had not been charged with DUI.

I believe that's the same inference that JD made. Which is why I made the point that just because she was drunk didn't mean she was sober. Drug testing takes some time.

JD going off of what was reported
"Six of the occupants are Boston College students, and no one in the SUV was over age 19, authorities said. The crash remains under investigation. "

You may "infer" that there is more to it, you know, since its still under investigation. I'm just saying.

Interesting
"An MBTA spokesman said Jane Stanton, the driver of the Jeep Cherokee; Philip Samuelsson; Patrick Wey; Parker Milner; Tina Dilandry; Reilly Corbett and Elizabeth Motley will be summonsed to court charges of being minors in possession of alcohol following the accident early Sunday."

Hmm, so although she was sober she is being charged with possession. hmm tough sell if there wasn't any in her system.

jcarter, the charges were in and they were all for underage possession. So no DUI was a pretty clear-cut inference.

Friggin kidz....they all do stupid chit, dont they? I'm glad I never thought about doing something crazy in school. :D

Hard to argue with you on athletes being held to higher standards, but I still have a hard time getting on them if they were drinking at a party. As for fleeing, only one of the hockey players allegedly fled the scene. If he was trying to get all the booze out of the vehicle before police showed up, can't say I blame him.

Any more reckless accusations you want to throw out there? I'm going by what's being reported, tool. When there's something reported on the driver doing anything you're suggesting, let us know.

As for a trolley coming right at her, you make it sound like a straight line head on collision. That's not what happened. There was a U turn involved.

Just thought you may want to know that it's being reported that the driver denied drinking and the cop didn't think she was lying.

So umm, let's not play it off like she passed a breath test or something. K....... Great.

Umm no it isn't. At all. The alcohol was found in her car. Hence possession.

Have I said she was drunk? Hmmm, maybe, but I thought I was just saying she may not have been sober.

But it's ok for you to say she might not actually have been sober? Got it.

Well, you wacky Mass guys have some funny ideas about justice. Because Milner had a beer in her car they both get charged with possession? How can they both be in possession? Oh yeah wait, she said she hadn't been drinking and the cop believed her on that one....why didn't she just say it wasn't her alcohol?

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

Aside from the fact that she was a girl? Yes.

Look, if she was smoking a spliff before and she was high while driving, the responding officers would have figured it out.

Wow, lots of faith in BPD. You guys must have excellent cops because there is now way they figure that stuff out in VT immediately. Usually it takes a few days to do some blood work and stuff like that.

It can take up to 3 weeks to get a job background check in VT, that doesn't mean its something to be proud of.

Obviously a well-trained officer didn't think she needed to be administered a test, so she probably showed no physical signs of being impaired by a substance (slurred speech, glassy/bloodshot eyes and dilation, poor balance, alcohol on her breath or smell of marijuana, etc).

You keep digging, jcarter.

I'm just glad our guys weren't caught grabbing each others' cacks in some weird hazing ritual. When you think about it, getting into a car with a container of alcohol is a lot more normal than the elephant walk, huh? At least to civilized folks (not that I condone getting into a car with a container of booze)...

Well, seems like most of you folks in Vermont are a little "slow" so it all seems to fit, doesn't it?

Re: Boston College Offseason Thread: Basking in the glow.. again

All I'm saying is that the article didn't specifically state they WEREN'T all raping nuns at the time of the accident, so it's fair to assume it's a 50/50 chance that they were. I'M JUST SAYIN!

No there were eye witness accounts and they didn't see any nuns. Just saying.

ROFLMAO, besides I thought the alter boys were the ones that needed to be scared, the nuns are safe aren't they?
