Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Ryan the MVP of the Prospects game and Cangelosi leading the USHL in scoring. The 2013 recruiting class looking good indeed! ;)

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

With Richardson being pushed back to 2013 earlier this summer and with Vatrano now being off the team, I can' t see us having much scoring production coming from the 3rd and 4th lines.
Don't know this years lines yet, but I can see last years 4th liners Smith and Linell contributing to the scoring this season.

I agree. Linell is on top pp line and will either be on 1st line or 3rd with Sit and Smith according to the kid. He will also be on top pk line, i think he will be this years big surprise, he is hands down the fastest kid on the team.

BTW I'm not sure if it was posted here or not but student season tickets sold out before school even started. They're expanding the section in the upper deck to meet demand.

We might be shattering another attendance record this winter.

Great to hear that. Speaking of season tickets, have they come in yet for anyone? First game is still 19 days away, but i know BC loves to cut it close...

Exhibition game is this Saturday. Don't you need your tickets before that?

Reminder: The women open their season Friday night vs. BU at Conte. Games are free and both teams are ranked in the top 10 nationally.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Haven't heard anything on season tickets, I imagine we'll get them next week.

You can just walk in for exhibition games.

great news! :D. surely has to do with the success of the team but i also wonder the effect struggling football and bball programs have to do with it:confused:. I got 3 extra tickets for the opener but there are only seats left in two sections i was told

Also no NHL should increase demand.

Locktoberfest?

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

I realize that in being the reigning Champ, BC is probably getting a bit extra respect in the polls, but still pretty funny how that poster a few weeks back was arguing that they weren't even top 10 material, when now everyone in the country has them at #1. Respect or not, there's no way they aren't a top 5 team.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

This is the 10th time in 11 years, in which BC has held the #1 ranking, at some point during the season. The only year in which they did not "officially" hold the top spot is the 2006-07 season. And, I think, everyone can agree that by the time the Frozen Four rolled around, BC was the best team in the country. They had won 12 games in a row, and most of them were blowouts (they outscored their opponents in the Hockey East tournament 21-5). If rankings were still done into the NCAA tournament, the Eagles certainly would have been #1.

Even in the 2008-09 season, BC was ranked #1 to start the season.

02&03? Were they preseason #1 after the 01 title?

02&03? Were they preseason #1 after the 01 title?

Nope.

From Milewski's column:

This is Boston College’s fifth time as No. 1 in the preseason poll. North Dakota is next with three, followed by Denver and Minnesota with two apiece. Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Wisconsin each have been the preseason No. 1 once.

Here’s the rundown on the No. 1 teams in the USCHO.com Division I Men’s Poll and how they have fared (first-place votes in parentheses):

1997-98: North Dakota (30/30); 30-8-1, won WCHA regular season title, lost in NCAA quarterfinals

1998-99: Boston College (6/30); 27-12-4, won Hockey East playoff title, lost in NCAA semifinals

1999-2000: Boston College (26/40); 29-12-1, lost in NCAA championship game

2000-01: North Dakota (24/40); 29-8-9, won WCHA regular season title, lost in NCAA championship game

2001-02: Michigan State (33/40); 27-9-5, lost in NCAA first round

2002-03: Minnesota (22/40); 28-8-9, won WCHA playoff title, won NCAA title

2003-04: Minnesota (25/30); 27-14-3, won WCHA playoff title, lost in NCAA quarterfinals

2004-05: Michigan (17/40); 31-8-3, won CCHA regular season and playoff titles, lost in NCAA quarterfinals

2005-06: Denver (17/36); 21-15-3, missed NCAA tournament

2006-07: Wisconsin (17/40); 19-18-4, missed NCAA tournament

2007-08: North Dakota (13/29); 28-11-4, lost in NCAA semifinals

2008-09: Boston College (36/50); 18-14-5, missed NCAA tournament

2009-10: Denver (20/46); 27-10-4, won WCHA regular season title, lost in NCAA first round

2010-11: Boston College (45/50); 30-8-1, won Hockey East regular season and playoff titles, lost in NCAA first round

2011-12: Notre Dame (11/43); 19-18-3, missed NCAA tournament

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Tickets are going fast. I was able to renew but was unable to get a second pair of tickets in the same section. There are reports are the Vatrano did not pass Clearinghouse because of an issue concerning an "admissions test." Does this mean SAT or ACT? If so, wouldn't BC and the Clearinghouse have received the scores and make an admission decision before the player maticulated? If the player had advanced notice, he could have stayed in juniors and not forfeited a year of eligibility/ Looking forward to a great HE season!!

Echoing the above, tickets are going fast. As of last week there were only 2 sections that weren't sold out for banner night.

Looks like the the gold jersey saga is finally over as they are going to be delivered today.
