Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Anyway, let me guess...BC is the last school to put up an official roster/schedule?

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Ask even the UW fans what they think of Alvarez's "support" for college hockey.

in what sense? great facilities, very good coaching staff, great training, loaded with nhl draft picks etc. They probably have one of the top 5 budgets in the country

what should Alvarez do? buy them Ipods? they dont win, not his fault.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Care about the sport. Not make stupid decisions based on greed that jeapordize the sport (ie... pulling UW out of showcase because he didn't get what he wanted, then pushing for the formation of the BTHC at all costs).

I know UW fans have their own gripes about some of the things he has done to effect their own program specifically, and I won't talk for them, but those are why most WCHA fans despise the man.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Whoever comes in next won't have nearly the tall task that TOB did, so that's at least a silver lining.

Highly debatable. This is a major, major mess that is going to take a few years to clean up.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

2012 sign going up on the pike today

It's good to be king

You know, I drove by that on Sunday and was thinking - they do know BC won again in April, right?? Wonder what took so long.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Will Kevin Hayes play to his potential this year? I'm beginning to think he might not be as skilled as the other recent big guys who took time to develop (his brother and Boyle). There is hope, because of the college and NHL success of JH and BB, but are we going to see it this year? Is it a matter of develping into his big frame and adjusting to the speed of the college game? Or is he just not as good as the former two tall forwards? This year will be telling.

On the other hand, I am excited to see the development of Q. Smith. His tenacity and aggresiveness as a freshman was impressive and effective. With a year of experience, a summer of working out gaining strength and speed, this kid has potential to be a very good college player. He has the sandpaper to his game that irritates opposing players and creates momentum for BC.

Should be a fun year if they stay away from the injury bug. The lack of depth is a concern, but even with he freshmen D, this team has potential to make another run.

it will be interesting to see what Hayes comes up with...............I am really looking forward to seeing Q Smith this year, loved watching his balls to the wall style. that 4th line made big contributions in the second half of the year even with out putting up many points

Kevin had a very difficult family illness going on last season. Knowing that, I think he performed incredibly. The situation is resolved and I expect him to play like his skates are on fire.

Correct, was announced by the Associate Dean of CSOM on twitter.

Great news, not surprisingly corresponded with the departure of Napoleon

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

"a place like Michigan or Wisconsin" was what he wrote. That to me suggests he meant Any U, if you took it another way than I, great, good for you. The subject is BC and GDF

I wasn't talking about any university...of course the BU or Ferris State AD is going to love hockey because that is the biggest sport at the school. I used Wisco and Michigan as examples because they are two of several schools that have FBS Football, Major Conference Basketball, and hockey. You can throw Minnesota, Ohio State, Michigan State in there as well. Pretty sure the ADs at all of those schools put football and basketball wayyy ahead of hockey...so why do we expect different from GDF?
