Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

agreed on the 3 years. also, if you can jump and go straight to the nhl, I can't blame them. noah playing 79 games as an 19 year old was clearly the right move for the player.
that shootout goal against the Bruins was filthy....

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

So who is going to sign an NHL contract today?

Let's see, you have to figure McCoshen and Demko are next!

Hey, Quinn is cutting Robbie B. Does he have to sit out a year? Would Quinn cut someone and then also block a transfer to a rival school? :D

He is graduating so free to leave and play immediately

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

This is becoming a train wreck. You have to figure a key consideration for each player is how competitive or not competitive the team will be next year, so each player that leaves early provides additional motivation for others to leave early.

Hard to see at this point what the motivation would be for Demko or McCoshen to stay. Or White. Or even Ryan Fitzgerald.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Correct
This has me thinking back to Sean fields who if he left after his jr yr would have cashed in huge. Instead he came back to a much weaker squad and put up horrible numbers.... Blowing any shot of cashing in.

So cangelosi is left thinking "do I have a shot at 15g next year?!? Let alone another 20?"

I understand what you're saying but ultimately I don't think that would make or break it for any of these guys. Not sure anyone saw Gilmour leaving. And Tuch could have benefited from another year. Kreider was drafted basically right where Tuch was and he got three years in. Those are the two I "question" (from a fan's perspective, not a player's perspective). The rest are very easily explainable.

Anyway, if Heisenberg is accurate:

Demko--Woll
McCoshen--Mattila
Santini--McInnis
Doherty--Moore
Jeke--Campoli
Silk--Booth
Tuch--Cotton
Gilmour--McPhee
McMullen--Hutsko
Wood

1. Probably looking for another body, whether that's a walk on etc I have no idea
2. Woll, Campoli, Hutsko all listed as 2016 or 2017

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

I should note that Woll is probably considered a given should Demko leave. Campoli is 18 so I'd think he's ready to go. Only question would be Hutsko as he is 17 and doesn't turn 18 till February.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Kreider was drafted basically right where Tuch was and he got three years in.

Kreider came back to play on a national championship team that won it's last 19 games and gets to be in the conversation of the greatest BC teams of all time. Do you think he really would have turned down the money to come back to a team that looked like it might struggle to eke out a tournament berth? I'm thinking that's doubtful.

Easy to forget that that team was floundering during the middle of the year, were they not? Do you know that's why Kreider came back? Just to win a national championship? Or was it also best for his personal development as a player?

Yes, they were. But the relevant factor for this analysis is that the team looked like a legitimate contender heading into the season. I'm the extra year of development didn't hurt, but I'm sure the unfinished business after the first round loss the prior season combined with the appearance that the 2011-2012 would be a contender had to be part of his consideration.

He came back to get 3 years of school in so he could get his degree easily after going pro. He sure as heck didn't come back so he could simply compete for a national title.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

wow who peed in everyone's cheerios over the last 24 hours? we should probably shut down the program

the team will be fine.

btw I think the kreider / tuch comparison from a skill pov is perfect. both have jump off the page NHL talents but would disappear for far too long. they were both were / are a ton of fun to watch but at times frustrating.

edit: as for the Robbie b, I certainly would welcome him on the team next year.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

hmmmm. tuch is very, very good. but kreider was outstanding. don't think it's a comparable look.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

idk maybe kreider's ridiculous speed / knack for scoring big goals clouds our judgement

tuch:
GP / G / A / P
FR 37 / 14 / 14 / 28 / 0.76
SO 40 / 18 / 16 / 34 / 0.85

kreider:
GP / G / A / P
FR 38 / 15 / 8 / 23 / 0.61
SO 32 / 11 / 13 / 24 / 0.75
JR 44 / 23 / 22 / 45 / 1.02

edit: mf'er the formatting looks so good until you hit submit

These defections are sad, yet represent the state of the game and the motivation behind these great talents. It's no longer the front of the jersey.

These high end players sure as hell aren`t dreaming about working for 35 years in cubicle #325a4 thats for sure!
