Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Here is the scenario we should be rooting for tomorrow:
BC wins HE Final
North Datoka wins WCHA Final
Denver wins WCHA consolation
Northern Michigan wins CCHA final
Miami wins CCHA consolation
Cornell wins ECAC final

Then we would get the #3 seed

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

That was the best game BC has put together in a while. Very solid performance on both ends of the ice. :)

Bring on the Black Bears.

Aren't these two the only ones necessary for us to be the 3 seed?

I'm personally rooting for NoDak also, because that would put NoDak in 4th and we would avoid them (along with Wisco, Miami, and Denver) in our regional.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Very nice performance tonight against a dogged Vermont team. Great effort by Muse, who's clearly taken the reigns here.

60 minutes like that against Maine tomorrow and BC will be lifting another banner at the Garden.

I will see you in the offseason threads, jcarter.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

After watching where the production came from last night, specifically #19's play and #5's great shift at the blue line to set up the second goal, it's amazing how good this coaching staff is year after year. Whether it's Brownie, Cav or Jerry, or most likely the combination of all three, they never fail to recruit the best players for their team/system. They have been the most consistent team in college hockey the last 10 years. It's not debatable.

Guys like Brownie and Cav are the unheralded leaders of this consistency. Jerry is the ultimate leader, but they are the guys selling the school, the program, the city, and all that BC hockey has to offer. This team is currently positioned to compete for national championships for the next 2 years, and based on their track record, I'm sure the coaching staff will fill the pipeline with superior talent for years beyond.

The coaching staff's recruiting success is truly amazing and should be acknowledged more than it is.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Got a chuckle out of this post from Hokydad in the BU recruiting thread:

"word is that clendenning with us team is going to ohl and not bu"

I know he's just a kid, but if true, good riddance to this waffling turd.

Signed,

Hockey East

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

The Hayes goal made SportsCenter Top Ten at #10, but they called Kreider's assist a rebound. Win some, lose some, I guess.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

One thing I loved last night was Gibbons going after Cullity after he hit Joe Whitney after the whistle. Maybe the Bruins took notes.

He got two points for that takedown. I was surprised that BC ended up with a PP but I applauded him for tackling Cullity.

Great comment here - couldn't agree more. One thing I love is the coaching staff's commitment to speed, in addition to everything else. It makes BC SO dangerous against other teams and gives them the upper hand usually in any match-up. It's one more thing in addition to everything else BC has in their arsenal that other teams have to be extremely wary of.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Love to see Chris Kreider's development continue to take-off like a rocket.
Started the season off with minimum contribution as he needed to find himself in HE competition one year out of high school, but then right around mid-season, he absolutely took off like a cannon-shot. Started to be in the right places at the right times, make the right passes, moves, and shots to transform him into a very dangerous offensive force. Right away early in the season this kid stood out with his incredible skating ability, but now he's put it ALL together. The skill has really come around, and with that skating ability and speed he's just a joy to watch. Hope he sticks around for more than 2 years before he signs with the Rangers.

It doesn't take much for Gibbons to go after anybody at any time. In this case it was absolutely appropriate, but I wouldn't mind seeing him take it down a notch and not be quite as feisty in general. He puts us on penalty kills for foolish shots & pokes he takes at other players a little too often in my opinion. Love his offensive contribution, though, and how his motor is always at full throttle. Just needs to be a little smarter with his extra curricular activities.

We are North Dakota fans tonight

We are North Dakota fans tonight

Looking at the PWR and with Bucky putting a hurt on DU, BC needs to beat Maine and for NoDak to beat SCSU in the WCHA Final. Otherwise BC will fall out of the top 4 in the PWR and its anyone's guess as to where they will be placed tomorrow.

I agree with this comment. I'll take 2 minutes for that play all day long. You can't let a team like Vermont try to intimidate you with cheap plays and questionable hits. Sticking up for your teammates is absolutely necessary in that situation. As far as him toeing the penalty line with some of his actions, again, I'm for it. It adds an edge to a team that relies on speed and skill. They need a couple players like this to be tougher to play against.

The old BC man next to me was chastising Gibbons for that hit as well, but it was the right play.

I'm a Boston native, lifelong BC fan and new to this board. Anyhow, I read your comment and it is EXACTLY how I felt. Could not have said it better. I pumped my fist and applauded when Gibbons made that hit and said similar things to my wife about defending your teammates. BC is, obviously, a speed and skill team and not a bruising bunch but are more than capable of delivering hits and standing toe to toe with bigger teams.
