Interesting with the Cronin thing. I wonder if NU will galvanize or collapse.

While Northeastern has played well the last two games...neither this game nor the Beanpot should have been close. The defense has been embarrassingly bad.

I know part of the reason the D looks bad is the fact that NU is playing well, but it has more to do with general sloppy play.

I better not see Patch Alber in the lineup tomorrow. He has been just awful since coming back from the jaw injury.

****, you and Notheastern sure like to put on a show. Wish I could've watched both games.

Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part II - We Still Have Jerry York. Sorry, Every

how about both!

and neither played well but maybe not as poorly as the D.what is going on here? i'm stunned with the way we've played the past two games. a lot of credit to NU but really 13 goals in two games? leading the nation on the PK and how many PP's allowed in these two games 6? 7? and agree about the post on Alber, not to single him out as there's plenty of blame to spread around but he isnt the same player coming back and samuelsson hasn't exactly been shining either. not going to get any easier tonight. it will be interesting to see if the coaching staff can counter what ever NU is doing. i'm surprised frankly that in two games they haven't yet. it's not what we are accustomed to certainly

Jerry knows what he's doing. Reminds me of the shootout you guys got into with Yale last NCAAs. I was thinking, "There's No way BC can get away with this type of play against Miami or Wisco." Guess what? Jerry figured it out and fixed it. I suppose Yale could have been that good, but I think BC just made adjustments.

It wouldn't completely surprise me if Jerry was showing "false weaknesses" or something to throw off the opposition in the coming weeks. Sounds crazy but BC always seems to flip a switch this time of year, no?

they will go to 4 when it counts, Alber and Samuelson can basicaly watch when it counts.

Are you seriously questioning the effectiveness of the coaching staff?

When they take the 2 points tonight, that will be 2-0-1 against a team that has been playing well as of late. With a win, BC's week brings home a beanpot championship and 3 of 4 league points. Pretty strong week if you ask me.

As someone else pointed out, I guess we had a similar problem last year with the high scoring affairs vs Maine in the HE final and vs Yale soon after in the NCAA's and we still ended up fixing the problem by the FF; so all is not yet lost as far as the goals allowed. If nothing else, it seems that Alber has completely lost it, so why not get Macleod back in there as I don't recall him being a total liability and he's at least got great size which Alber certainly doesn't have. You could then play Alber at forward in place of TAkinson or Brown, which would probably be a slight upgrade. On the flip side, gotta be real happy with the offense. Atkinson and Gibbons are playing well, the Hayes/Kreider line has been dominating and even Bill Arnold has become a somewhat consistent/clutch scoring threat.

not questioning the effectiveness of the coaching staff at all and i 100% expect Jerry et al to fix it. he is unquestionably the best coach in the country as we all know and we are so fortunate have him here. that being said, aren't you at least a little surprised by last night? that's all i'm saying

I thought last night would be 7-1 BC but I think NU has finally put it all together. BC's not the only team that can watch tape etc. and improve.

BC took that 3-1 lead early and looked like it kinda fell asleep for a while. Where is that killer instinct?? That time out by Northeastern was huge; it stopped the bleeding

Huh? They give up 13 goals in 2 games to offensive powerhouse Northeastern, and you're concerned? All this team does is WIN baby! Whadsa madda wit you? ;) :D

I'm convinced if BC stays out of the box in these last three contests they would have had no problem winning all 3 without going into overtime. It throws off everything. The PKers get tired and the other lines have trouble getting into the flow of the game.

Plenty of time to get things fixed but ...

Kevin Hayes is a ghost out there. I feel bad for Carey having to get stuck on a line with him right now. On the other hand, Arnold is playing fantastic hockey at both ends. He had a big pass block on the 5x3 last night. York has quite a conundrum with Hayes. I'd probably take him out before anyone else and consider dressing Alber in at his spot. BUT, you just can't bench a 1st rounder for the long term like this. He has a long way to go IMO... Alber not playing well on defense, dress Macleod and put Alber in at offense. Now you have 7 defensemen in the lineup so when Samuelsson does something stupid and gets kicked out again you have 6 defensemen still. We might see this down the stretch but rather than Hayes sitting it would be Brown/T Atkinson.

PKers have shown vulnerability. I think this will get fixed. Credit to NU for getting pucks through the front line because that is where BC excels. Wisconsin with their fantastic defensemen last year couldn't get anything through but these NU guys did very well last night and the game before on this. It's a very subtle skill to have that pays huge dividends.

NU's style matching up nicely with BC's. It's all on tape now. BC is going to get pushed around until they push back as long as opposing personnel is capable of playing such a game.

NU just doesn't quit. Give them credit.
