Yeah, it's too bad we didn't have Lyles to play instead. :rollseye:

Anyway you are an idiot. Having a single bad game, in reference to Samuelsson, is hardly being exposed. But I wouldn't suspect someone who has little knowledge about the game and individual players specifically to realize that. Do us all a favor and stop posting in BC threads.

He's been harping on Samuelsson since he arrived and obviously thought Lyles/MacLeod would be in the lineup over Alber. After being proven wrong in both cases, he'll grasp at anything to show he was right.

Not to be picky, but was anyone else surprised Jimmy Hayes didn't win the MVP? Last week he scored the tying goal in the 3rd period and won the faceoff that led directly to the OT goal. Plus this week he scored the OT winner.

Gotta love the way Bill Arnold is playing. True 18 year old Freshman playing on the 3rd and 4th lines all year and already has 8 goals, most of them where he made the play himself vs tapping in a beautiful feed. He's so solid defensively and just seems to really have a head for the game. Definite captain material down the road.

Going to love having Arnold for 4 years here. York trusts him to no end as well. Season opener against NU, up 1-0 w 1 min to go and BC on the PK who does he put out? A walkon who wasn't dressing for much of the previous year in Alber and a freshman in his first game in Arnold.

we've loved the way he's played almost from the start, he fit in really well with this team ...........

Also to another point, the 18-19 year old freshman is nice and refreshing.

You look down the B line and see a soon to be 24 year old junior as 2nd leading scorer or the AARP captain that won the championship with them. Or at NU leading scorer a 24 year old senior or 22 year old sophomore goalie.

Watching the replay now. It's clear they were trying to get under Gibbons' skin the entire night. Just saw a complete dbag move by McNeely with 7:37 left in 1st Gibbons skating off for a change the doors open the pucks about 20' away and he cross checks him from behind and Gibbons faceplants into the corner where the door was open. The Hayes, Mullane, Kreider line was the best line by far and has been for a little now. These refs were brutal in the 1st, calling way too tight and then missing egregious calls. Rawlings made some huge saves in the 1st.

the beanpot mvp is a fairly stupid award. especially in a wild affair like last night.. it really could have gone to anyone. that hayes/mullane/kreider line was absolutely unstoppable and definitely deserved co-mvp honors.

i do like what kreider said about the award today:

“I wanted to get that Beanpot bad,’’ he said. “I don’t even know what the name of the [MVP trophy] was — I mean, I’m honored to get it, but you play so you can win the Beanpot.’’

Sure the rules allow for it, but I still don't like seeing 21 year old freshmen. I can see a kid playing prep or juniors for a year and showing up at 19, but anything over that age and your kind of getting away from the true college spirit. Part of the problem is that there are only so many 18 year olds that can excel in college, and they all go to the big name schools, so if the second level schools want to compete, they almost have to go the "older" route.

great point, makes it much sweeter when we win, doesn't it? like when USA olympic basketball was fun because we had only amateurs

Why are ceiling tiles so punchable?

FYI, BC did not win just one Beanpot or just two Beanpots this week. BC won THREE Beanpots - D1 men's last night and D1 women's and Club tonight!! Now all three just need to win their national championship : )

If anyone deserved Co-MVP (not that it matters), it was Cross.

Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part II - We Still Have Jerry York. Sorry, Every

Anyone else think the combination of NU's frustration and BC's triumph makes this weekend a bit of a trap?

Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part II - We Still Have Jerry York. Sorry, Every

NU is playing good hockey right now and BC hasn't done all that well at Matthews over the past few years. I can't even consider this a trap... BC has to bring it if they want 4 points. Merrimack is gunning for 1st place.

Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part II - We Still Have Jerry York. Sorry, Every

You have to think NU got BC's attention Monday night. Throw in that York could show the defensive struggles on video all week long...

I expect a great, fired up crowd at Conte. Perhaps providing a more hostile environment for NU compared to the neutral Garden. BC is 9-1 at home. I think BC will be ready to go Friday night. I think it all depends on what NU has in the tank.

As I said on the NU thread it'll be fascinating to see how NU comes out this weekend. Like you, I imagine an amped Conte on Friday night.

NU should be flat on Friday and get pounded. Last Monday was the type of game that beats you twice. I can see NU rallying and playing their best on Saturday and grabbing a win, though. Beating a team three times in less than a week is pretty hard.

Big Time Congratulations to BC's Brooks Dyroff named as a finalist for Melon Hockey Humanitarian award.

Brooks Dyroff, Boston College From Boulder, Colo., Dyroff is as much a humanitarian as he is a hockey player. A sophomore forward, he co-founded an organization called CEO 4 Teens, that has raised money to send Indonesian teens to school, as well as help Boston area teenagers obtain their GEDs. He also founded “Mathletes,” an after school math enrichment program. An avid filmmaker, Brooks was also a member of the 2009–2010 All Hockey East Academic Team.
