4-0. Better hope Whitney and Wey make it back next weekend, and Alber for the postseason, or this season is over.

Conte faithful head to the exits with 16:26 left in third. Ugly.

Should have waited 3 minutes. Just saw the softest shortie in years

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

5-0 on a shortie. Team can barely skate now, half the team has been going double shifts all night.

Is touchdown Cory in now?

Hope the don't honor the sr after the game!!

Does that mean that the rest of the team had most of the night off?

I thought a 3-point weekend was the best BC could hope for, but I will applaud Providence for roaring back into the HE limelight. For the longest time, 'Providence College' and '8th Place' just seemed to go together like peanut butter & jelly. A rising tide floats all boats, and as the college hockey landscape brings upheaval to itself beginning next year, a relatively stable Hockey East will bode well for the conference in the 2013-2014 campaign.

Whitney went out after a few minutes. McMullen didn't play a shift. Spiro only played a couple shifts, and only in the 3rd, and Linell moved to D. So yeah, I would say half the remaining forwards saw some ridiculous ice time tonight.

Softest in years

This is true and also a problem. Look, from opening night this roster had issues. First 11 or 12 games were astronomical. Someone is going to lube up BC and pound them in the rear in the first round of the NCAAs. Still no identity. Not a tough team. Not a fast team. Not a skilled team for the most part.

"No one wants to play us" and by no one we really mean everyone.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

BC generated their best scoring chance due to a crazy bounce off the glas (and still blew it). That says everything I need to know.

Good for PC. Hokydad were you at the game?

Classy post, Chris. I like your perspective.

I agree.............took my daughter (BC2010) and she commented on the ride home that i didn't seem as upset as usual.............I told her how thankful i am that i've got to see what i've seen in the past 6-7 years. The best time following sports in my lifetime but that i just felt badly for the seniors that it happened like that tonight in their last home game.......We move on. PC is a very good team and still rising and that is a good thing for HE

I don't care if this is the softest bc team in years, there's still only so much you can accomplish with the roster as is.

*sigh* ah no... they will have two more in 13 and 14 days from now

BC might be the youngest team in the country but they just lost to a PC team that played 10 freshmen!

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

I didn't say anything about bc being the youngest team. That's irrelevant to me as they are routinely the youngest or one of the youngest. Mookie is finally right though...just because pc has 10 freshmen doesn't mean they are all automatically "young".

I never went to BC, but my Dad is a double Eagle (BC High/BC). He'd take me to games at the always-frigid McHugh Forum when I was a kid, so I go back that far. I bought tickets for him and me to go see the Championship game in 1998 when a strong BC team lost in heartbreaking fashion to Michigan. But here we are fifteen years and three national championships later, and I also feel thankful (for him and for me) to have witnessed what we witnessed. And to conclude that those three could have been five...

So today up here on the ocean in Kennebunkport, he and I watched the game. We both felt more excited for Providence than bad for BC, and there is a part of me hoping that if the Eagles cannot make the Hockey East Championship game that the Friars do. My son bought tickets for him and me to be there at the game later this month, so the circle of life does exist.

I would like to think that next weekend BC can extract the four points they couldn't get this weekend, and finish among the top four teams in Hockey East.

As for the NCAAs, chances of BC being up in my neighborhood (the VWA) are evaporating faster than a teaspoon of water in Death Valley. But as a college hockey fan first and a BC follower second, I will cheer the Hockey East teams as long as they keep lacing up the skates.

Except for BU. They are quickly turning into the 'Short Bus' of college hockey.
