Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?
I agree.............took my daughter (BC2010) and she commented on the ride home that i didn't seem as upset as usual.............I told her how thankful i am that i've got to see what i've seen in the past 6-7 years. The best time following sports in my lifetime but that i just felt badly for the seniors that it happened like that tonight in their last home game.......We move on. PC is a very good team and still rising and that is a good thing for HE
I never went to BC, but my Dad is a double Eagle (BC High/BC). He'd take me to games at the always-frigid McHugh Forum when I was a kid, so I go back that far. I bought tickets for him and me to go see the Championship game in 1998 when a strong BC team lost in heartbreaking fashion to Michigan. But here we are fifteen years and three national championships later, and I also feel thankful (for him and for me) to have witnessed what we witnessed. And to conclude that those three could have been five...
So today up here on the ocean in Kennebunkport, he and I watched the game. We both felt more excited for Providence than bad for BC, and there is a part of me hoping that if the Eagles cannot make the Hockey East Championship game that the Friars do. My son bought tickets for him and me to be there at the game later this month, so the circle of life does exist.
I would like to think that next weekend BC can extract the four points they couldn't get this weekend, and finish among the top four teams in Hockey East.
As for the NCAAs, chances of BC being up in my neighborhood (the VWA) are evaporating faster than a teaspoon of water in Death Valley. But as a college hockey fan first and a BC follower second, I will cheer the Hockey East teams as long as they keep lacing up the skates.
Except for BU. They are quickly turning into the 'Short Bus' of college hockey.
