Looks like unh officially has the inside track for 1st with four home games against maine and umass.

this'll teach jwrry that winning at all costs carries a high, steaming price.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Ok...

York is the devil...happy?

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

You must've not had younger siblings growing up JD

Anyways, thought Hayes looked very good out there for a while. At times York was double shifting him and really moved him around. I know we probably won't see it after tonight, but thought Hayes looked pretty good with Gaudreau & Mullane. Gaudreau benefitted from Hayes' size out there the couple of shifts they were together. Tough to separate Hayes & Arnold though which quickly showed the chemistry on the first goal. Ultimately, think Whitney gets moved back up and we try to live with Destry (though I'd love to see Silk).

Team just isn't going to run through other teams, just going to have to work 60 minutes and hope Gaudreau gets hot (1 point in last 4) ala 2008.

Edit: Hayes with a quad injury left during late 2nd/early 3rd and really hurt BC, iffy for Friday. Lovely.

Just two older ones...not nearly as annoying as mookie

Yep, it is what it is. These are all gonna be tight games.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Too bad about Hayes, quad injuries can linger for quite some time. May be better of resting him for the playoffs. Oh yeah, one other thing, this team is dreadful in their own end....

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

It's karma that he got hurt!!!

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

I wanted to say good game and hopefully we will meet again at the Garden in a few weeks. But after reading the last 3 days of posts nobody would have known who you played tonight.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Blame mookie ;)

I would have been happy with a tie tonight, but kudos to UML for getting the late winner. Top five teams within a point...never seen anything like it.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

jerry must be mad at JG. this is a joke at this point. put his line back together.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Honestly. The effort is there for the most part. They just lack depth, the top line sucks since Linell moved up, and the entire team turns pucks over at such an alarming rate I don't know whether to laugh or cry most nights.

Doherty was dreadful tonight.

all kidding aside, we knew and i don't think there are many who were surprised by the result given the circumstances not the least of which is you have a very, very good team

Seriously.

Get.
Linell.
Off.
The top line.
Sweet Jesus Christ.

Last night's game was one BC will probably wish they could have back, facing a home-and-home against The Friars. Ordinarily, this would be seen as an easy three- or four-point weekend coming up. But I see it as a three-point weekend for BC...at best.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

I don't know what to say, except that the other team has sticks, and they're going to try and take the puck away from you, and they did.
Most frustrating game I've seen in a while. Have a feeling there may be more. Hope I'm wrong.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

I don't think it's time to hit the panic button. I just think it's time everyone comes to grips with what we have on our hands. Look at this roster. 5 good forwards, 1 good defenseman (and he is even prone to mistakes several times a night). A pedestrian team playing bad hockey exacerbated by the foolishness of ruining the top line. JG was at about 1.7 PPG before the line switches. Now him AND Mullane are non-factors. It's a shame because the 3rd line has been playing well and this could have been a time the team came together and got things figure out.

Depending on the Hayes injury, you need to get Whitney back to line 1. Get Hayes/Arnold together with anyone (who cares?). Don't touch the 3rd line. And see what happens.

Defense isn't going to give anyone the warm fuzzies either. It's somewhat hilarious to watch BC turn the puck over 3-4 times a shift and then when the other teams break out it's like the BC forecheckers are parking cones and they just pass tape to tape to tape and come right up the ice. Part of the problem is the forecheck. Speed isn't there. Still sitting on 1 SHG (an ENG mind you) for the season. Transition game is bad both ways. This team doesn't scare anyone. No swagger. They do play hard, I'll give them that.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Fun fact: BC has given up exactly 1 PPG in 5 straight contests and has only killed 81% of the penalties in those games. All tight games. Record: 2-2-1 in those games.

Agreed, the effort is there.

Doherty needs to spend all summer skating with Matheson

Pretty much agree with all of this.

I'm not hitting the panic button either. We knew what this team is for a while, despite what Kenny said a couple of games back, they've been playing some mediocre hockey for a couple of months now. The emergence of some scoring from the 3rd line has been nice but it has coincided with the disappearance of Mullane & Gaudreau (1 point in the last 4 games). Have to go back to the original lines and pray you get absolutely anything from Destry (though I'd put Silk up there).

This is the slowest BC team I can remember.

This is going to have to be like 2008, they aren't good enough to blow teams out. Work their a $ $ es off for 60 minutes and hope Gaudreau gets hot, we know Milner can steal a game or two in the tourney.
