I don't think it's time to hit the panic button. I just think it's time everyone comes to grips with what we have on our hands. Look at this roster. 5 good forwards, 1 good defenseman (and he is even prone to mistakes several times a night). A pedestrian team playing bad hockey exacerbated by the foolishness of ruining the top line. JG was at about 1.7 PPG before the line switches. Now him AND Mullane are non-factors. It's a shame because the 3rd line has been playing well and this could have been a time the team came together and got things figure out.
Depending on the Hayes injury, you need to get Whitney back to line 1. Get Hayes/Arnold together with anyone (who cares?). Don't touch the 3rd line. And see what happens.
Defense isn't going to give anyone the warm fuzzies either. It's somewhat hilarious to watch BC turn the puck over 3-4 times a shift and then when the other teams break out it's like the BC forecheckers are parking cones and they just pass tape to tape to tape and come right up the ice. Part of the problem is the forecheck. Speed isn't there. Still sitting on 1 SHG (an ENG mind you) for the season. Transition game is bad both ways. This team doesn't scare anyone. No swagger. They do play hard, I'll give them that.
