It all depends, mook. All I said was york wouldn't be able to cover something up that happened in michigan. Meaning he doesn't have an in with authorities (nor is bc hockey even in the same universe as psu football)

If you don't say anything, who know what needs to be covered up?

Does anyone know if steakbomb actually has a point?
I doubt it. I heard Hayes slingshotted himself over Conte Forum and landed in a snow bank on the other side. Would have gotten away with it if he wasn't wearing his skates. He may, or may not, have used a heat stick to get out of the snow.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

i was hoping to read some good hockey talk about the biggest game of the year when i got up this morning but instead the thread turned into a sh*t show  , so to speak, instead:cool:

Biggest win of the year. How many times during the third period did you think, "Well, we had our chance and Marotta stole it. Here comes Merrimack's gut-punch goal"?

Big props to the team for grinding it out and getting the huge two points.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Huge win, there have been several Ws in the past month (UNH, Beanpot) where you thought this was the one that would start a nice run, hopefully yesterday was truly that with some big games coming up.

What a cluster f at the top of the standings.

Edit: What a tear Whitney has been on, 10 goals in last 10 games

i hope this is the one that turns it around too but to me it had a different feel . In the past you could almost tell when the team started to click. They did not click much yesterday but gutted it out..........but maybe that's what will jump start them this time. Tomorrow night is even bigger.

Quinn Smith, Steven Whitney and Parker Milner carrying the squad all February, a month in which they have only lost one game (OT to Merrimack) and won a Beanpot Championship. I'm not sure what people's expectations are, but that's a pretty good month. That being said, this is a huge game tomorrow night, another tough battle to seperate themselves from a league contender. Time for JG to resurface, one assist in the last three games. It would be nice to see him have a big night.

Great seeing the Brown line developing and being rewarded. They are all tough to play against and now they are gaining confidence. Huge asset for the club going into March.

It is a pretty good month but I think what we are looking for is signs that the team is starting to jell and is playing really good hockey on a consistent basis and for 60 minutes each game, we have not seen that yet............as far as expectations are concerned , pretty simple, win trophies. Its what we are all about ................totally agree on the Brown line, a huge development for the team going forward

Move Whitney back to the top line when Hayes comes back. Arnold will have Hayes and the top line will catch fire again.

Eh they beat the crappy teams and lost/tied to the good ones in February until yesterday. The 3 wins were to the 7th & 10th teams in HE and a team that at the time, won 1 game in 2.5 months. They haven't been playing good, consistent hockey as shown by their 7-6-2 record since Christmas.

Agreed, Tuesday is another huge one.

Don't have a problem with this, but who is the 3rd on Arnold's line? I'd rather give Linell top 6 minutes than Destry.

And from an MC perspective, how many times did I think "Well, we had soooo many chances ( 5 on 3, huge turnover to Myers) and couldn't take advantage, when is Whitney/Gaudreau/Arnold going to win it for BC?"

Silk? because that line has to cycle because the top line is almost always in transition. And i concur that top line has to be put back. Whitney can play with anyone which is helpful but it's obvious that JG hasn't been the same since they got split

Either way, York is rolling 3 lines rest of way. Depth is a huge problem

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

I agree with Claver. Linell should get top 6 minutes. His speed compliments JG and Mullane. Silk is nowhere to be found. Noticed Sit did play a few shifts subbing for Staright and Dyroff yesterday. Seems like the staff has lost confidence in Silk. Whitney has been great no matter who he plays with. Best forward on the team. Putting him back on the 1st line is not going to help JG all of a sudden convert on the many breakaways he's had or make his shots go in. All players go through a bit of a slump. His shots will start to fall but putting Whitney there will not magically make them go in.

This post is dripping with irony. The lead up to the Beanpot is all about "throwing out the records" and how in this tournament anyone can beat anyone on any given night. However, when BC wins the trophy (1 for 1 in 2013 trophy season), and the opponent is not worthy, it's chalked up on the USCHO board by their anonymous pundits as a game they should have one in the first place. Simply diminished as a win against a 10th place team. Seeing as BC can't give the trophy back, should they at least take it out of the display case?

February to date - One trophy, one loss and BC 21 - Opponent 12.

As for you changing the sample size to strengthen your argument, heck, let's go all the way back, 18-8-3, first in their conference and fourth in the nation.

This team has been so good the last handful of years it has corrupted their fans with unrealistic expectations.

I agree with what Claver said but if you changed "corrupted" to spoiled, i'd agree with this part of your post. I dont think you will have anyone that follows the team tell you that we aren't spoiled and you know what? I LOVE BEING SPOILED!....................

EVER TO EXCEL

The Christmas tourney seems to be a natural break when gauging results because of 1) the 3 weeks off between games, & 2) the loss of a SR. defenseman. But you can look at it in any sample size you want, this team hasn't played consistent hockey in a while and I hope yesterday was the spring board to a great run to end the season.

As for the Beanpot, yes they did win it and it was great for the senior class to go 4 for 4 in the tournament and it's great that 2013 will be added to the beanpot banner at Conte and every time anyone sees the rafters at the TD Garden the BC Beanpot banner will be up there yet again. I'm just saying that they didn't go through a murder's row of teams to win it, (48th & 50th in RPI out of 59). As you said, trophies is what this program is about and they're one for one in 2013.

And I completely understand that as a BC hockey fan I am 110% spoiled based off this run the team has been on for a decade and a half.

Edit: As for the narrative that "anyone can win the Beanpot", I agree the unpredictability of a single elimination tournament is awesome. But 50% of the participants in a 4 team tournament haven't won the **** thing in 2 decades
