Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012 season thread

I'm looking forward to kennel weekend (dog house/dog pound/dog kennel). Not a huge fan of a Sunday game, but should be a good test of BC after what we saw in Amherst.
i have a feeling Jerry will have them prepared for NU and BU. Will we see another weird crazy game with NU?

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012 season thread

I can see NU stealing a point, but no way we lose to Sux2BU.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012 season thread

we gotta get both of these games .........and then on to South Bend
I'm with ya.
I want nothing less than 10 goals scored this weekend. :p
Quick release shots and crashing the net are the ticket on Rawlings, and Milan is pretty much a sieve this season.
I don't think I'm being unreasonable here. ;)

Go Eagles!

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012 season thread

good win against a team that is much better than their record suggests. especially with the emotion they attack BC with, in what was an otherwise obvious trap game for the eagles. pretty much controlled the play from end to end despite the score. certainly would like to see more offense in a game like that, but if they are saving it for bu, then i'll take it.

bu implodes at mc and loses a late lead and gives up a goal on the first shot of OT. great night.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012 season thread

BC out shoots NU 2-1 and wins on a deflection on a late PP with 2.8 seconds left.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012 season thread

That was just a great game. BC dominated the shots, but NU was pretty good all night. I had a great time at it. Very enjoyable to watch both these teams.

Unlike the last NU game though where they deserved to win, BC certainly deserved this one a little more tonight so I was glad to see that one go in with 2 seconds left. Of course it was my boy Cross. I just love the kid. Although he did have a stupid penalty in the first. Overall though he does everything just so **** solid.

Oh and that play Kreider made on the Hayes goal, along with the shot by Hayes....WOW. That is all I can really say. Had my, and most of the arenas jaw on the floor. Amazing.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012 season thread

That Hayes goal was great, but that line needs to put the puck on net. Team got way too fancy, especially in teh 3rd.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012 season thread

That had to be a very fustrating game for NU to lose. Ferriero finally scores a goal and it's against his former team until he de-commited to NU. Mrs. and Mr. Cross were elated Tommy scored the GW goal with 2 seconds left. They sit near us.

Looking forward to Sunday's game against our arch rivals. Not bad, they're 9-2 now and 7-1 in HE. That line of Kreider, Hayes, and Arnold have respectively 8, 4, and 7 goals.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012 season thread

i bet rawlings has a bruises all over his midsection.................seemed like that's where we put our shots all night long. we gutted out the 2 points, that's all that matters and did anyone think it was going to be easy? against NU, of course not and for sure agree with steveF, Huskies a lot better than their record. heck, look at the last 3 games they played and they got 1 point out of them.

You'll get at least 8 tomorrow. No question IMO.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012 season thread

interesting? maybe , maybe not, but from the HEonline weekend preview

Boston College is 112-125-17 in the all-time series, including a 33-34-8 record in 75 games under head coach Jerry York.

No kidding. He was like a magnet and the puck was a chunk of steel.
Both teams, with goalies sprawling, had some incredible open net chances to score last night and couldn't bury the biscuit.

I thought this Eagle team was different from recent versions, insofar as shooting the puck as opposed to over passing. How many times last night did we get the puck to the center slot only to look for that extra pass and a lower angle shot? Take that shot Bill Arnold, and let those talented wings mop up. ;)

OK... so now we've got to put up an 8 spot on Sunday to satisfy my thirst for goals. :)
No problem.

Go Eagles!

Rough loss for us but someone said Merrimack-BC was the best matchup in Hockey East right now. I disagree. That's what 8 games in a row now decided in the final minutes for NU-BC. Frozen Fenway will be wild.

Honestly though when you get outshot 37-15, you probably aren't winning.

Mack & BC are teh 2 best teams in HE right now & it really isn't close

I think Hayes is not a good finisher and tends to get too fancy, or overpasses sometimes instead of shooting. On breakaways in he has some good moves but doesn't have the final touch or move to put the puck in the net. His brother Jimmy, has a much better wrist shot IMO than Kevin. Jimmy's wrist shot just takes off and has a lot of smoke on it. Still, he has 4 goals and 9 assists at this point and it's a lot better at this point than last year when he had this much the whole of last year. His line with all 3 players leads the team in points on the three top spots on the BC roster with 16, 14, and 13 points respectively.
