Boston College 2024-25 TV * JG * MG

BCs defense these last two seasons have been the deepest groups I've seen in quite some time. I think, just my opinion, that Leddy wanted to be more than a 5th 6th 7th guy.

Both nights the top 5 defenders logged over 22 minutes TOI. Minnetian and Fortescue are really playing well and all over the ice. I think the big difference this year is the defensive structure and the depth on the back line. Two bad games Uconn and Merrimack otherwise they have been solid and then you have to get it past Fowler.

I suppose if that's the reason but you're giving up on another chance to be on a possible NCAA team that can reach the FF and I suppose a BC diploma is no different than one from Q. Q is stiil a decent team despite their losses from last season but not sure if they can go far in post season this year.

Some quick stats:
- Stiga is now 2nd on the team in goals behind Leonard with 9.
- Leonard's ENG on Saturday was his 50th as an Eagle.
- Both Leonard and Perreault, both with 60 pts lats season, are approaching the century mark. Perreault is up to 91, Leonard up to 87.
- Scoring has been nicely spread out with 5 players at 7+ goals. Jellvik is due and Hagens has slowed down but I'd expect to him pick it back up shortly.
- BC now holds tiebreakers over BU and Maine and is control of their own destiny. Maine and BC both have a max of 59 points but BC owns the tiebreaker. Maine is in control of their own destiny for 2nd place.

Playoffstatus numbers continue to look good for BC to grab at least a top-2 spot overall and likely #1 in Manchester barring a rare late-season surge from the Mildcats blocking us out of the region as a host.

WE have three with UNH so if we take care of business there we should be ok. I feel better about it if Umile were still coaching. Perreault needs to find the back of the net and rewarded for his hard work. The defensive work has been just great in front of Fowler.

BC could still play UNH in Manchester if 5 or 6 Hockey East schools get in as that qualifier wipes out the no first round league matchups. However, even that may not happen if they both advance as UNH would likely get in as the 13 or at worst 14 seed. The 15 and 16 and possibly even the 14 may be the autobids from the CCHA, AHA and even the ECAC. If BC and Michigan State keep winning the committee is likely to give them the 15 and 16 to protect the top seeds especially if they run away with it.

Seems like someone lost a bet.

If you make better decisions than I do by staying off of that hellsite, Macklin Celebrini walked into SAP Center tonight wearing Will Smith's BC jersey. Quite the ****-eating grin from Smitty- he looks so pleased with himself.

hellsite? because it stooped censoring conservatives? Turning off MSNBC would be a good decision for you. Your thinly veiled political post belongs elsewhere.

wow, who pissed in your cornflakes this morning?

can’t even call twitter a hellsite anymore… because of woke 🤪

in seriousness, i have been calling that thing a hellsite for the good part of a decade. figured it was public knowledge by this point that it stinks at its own purpose. nothing political about it, and honestly weird you think it is??? why on earth would anyone be getting political on a college hockey forum of all things...

The defense is just lock down, Nice to have such a terrific defensive corps. Stiga is playing really well, his speed catches the defense off guard. Leonard is playing on another level, he didn't have to do much on the first goal, Fortescue put the puck right on his stick for a re direct. The third goal was other worldly, seems like he went through UML's entire defense. He is just very creative. PP not working well, UML gave them plenty of chances, including two 5 on threes with a lot of time left on the first penalty. May be a little bit of over passing, they were getting to the net but there were a lot of bodies there. Good win, UML is a good defensive team but they don't have scorers. BC is number one for a reason or maybe 19 reasons.

Well, that was a nice game considering they didn't even dress Fowler. Another great defensive performance. What can you say about Leonard, his third goal was just bonkers and he is going to win the Hobey (as he should) and everyone knows it.

The PP was abysmal especially considering they had two long 5x3s. They didn't move enough to change the passing lanes, telegraphed passes, and didn't shoot enough pucks. I got a kick out of the Lowell player complaining about his interference call which was maybe the most blatant in the history of hockey.

Been a long time since BC has won a Beanpot... As one of the trophies they did not win last season, I'd expect Leonard and company to come out flying as this is likely the last shot for at least some of these guys to win one.

Long drought and we all know the story. 9 years is a long time without a beanpot. Reminds me of the days when BC only won one Beanpot per decade. Plus beating a team a 3rd time is tough. That Russian goalie has not given up a bad goal.

Let's hope last year doesn't repeat itself, where shortly after a sweep over BU, these teams met in the semifinals. I think the finals appearance drought until yesterday can indicate how that one went.

Yegorov is doing great despite strange circumstances. Imagine being enrolled into college mid-season out of mercy. He honestly saw enough shots in half a season with Omaha to be worth an entire season of development. In 3 games he's given up a total of 4 goals, only 1 even strength.

Maybe the key is to barely shoot at all? Goad Eiserman into taking a billion penalties? Make sure you take someone to the box with you if you're getting a penalty?

...plant some magic beans?

IDK what NU's record against BC is recently but it feels like they beat us more than they should. So I'm not going to say NU deserved that but... well yes I am going to say it. NU deserved that.

The key, almost always for this program, is to stay out of the box. I honestly don't expect to win next Monday; it's just the way it is and I've been around this for long enough to know how it is. That being said, there is likely a strong determination on this team to win the Pot since they haven't sniffed one in years and with a guy like Leonard on this team I believe that will is more likely to be imposed than perhaps some other years. Their play has been remarkably better the past few games (earlier they were winning but just barely and didn't look great) and if you can keep the feet moving, good things will happen.

Nice to get some supplemental scoring from the D. It's there. Gustafsson was a +5 last night as was Gasseau.

Playoffstatus now has BC as 100% clinched for NCAAs even if they lose out - the first team to do so - and 86% likely to get the #1 overall seed. UNH comes in at 16% likely to make the tournament, obviously they are a roadblock to BC playing in Manchester and with 3 games against them coming up, they can kick UNH to the curb and roll into Manchester. We'll see how this plays out; Beanpot letdown, 8 game win streak... I don't like it. I wonder if we'll see Korec again Friday to keep Fowler fresh and let him heal some more if he's dinged up.

I find it adorable that people think their team's player is even in the same stratosphere as Ryan Leonard with the Hobey talk heating up. Serious cope going on.

I looked at the list of Hobey nominees. I don't see western hockey games but my thought is that only Zeev Buium of Denver might challenge Leonard.

Got my finals tickets for Monday and hopefully they can win it for the upper classmen who have not experienced one POT championship. There's not much difference talent wise but BU has a new goalie who can stop BC. Yegerov is obvious more steady than Caron. Beating a team like BU 3 times in a season is a tough task no matter who you think is better.

Hope they can continue the streak up at the Whit as UNH are desperate for wins being at the bottom of HE.

Good road win especially with two regulars out. BC dominated this game and Whale was the only reason this score didn't look like Monday night's score.

The Sondreal(?) turnover was atrocious and led to the first UNH goal. I think the other goal was a puck sent around that ended up hitting the ref's skate and caromed into the slot. Justice was quickly served when Whale went back and redirected a clear-in right into his own unattended crease (I'm surprised these bounces don't happen more often when goalie's really rush back there to stop it). Nice to see Shamberger get it. And also nice to see Posma bury one.

How about the long-range pass by Gustafsson to Perreault for the SHG?

Fully expecting to lose to BU (who lost tonight) on Monday but let's see if they can get lucky and win it and stay healthy for the home stretch.

MSU also lost so Manchester as 1 seed is very likely.

Granted the DU-ASU game isn't final but playoffstatus has already run one iteration tonight and BC is up to 96% for the #1 seed. Good old Chuck may have forgotten how important this game was to BC in terms of the Manchester regional when he came up with his failed prediction and odd UNH erotica supporting story for why he thought UNH would win lol.

UNH participation in the tournament down to 10% likelihood. UMass up to 33%.
