Boston College 2024-25 TV * JG * MG

It is a win and Whale played a whale of a game. I agree the Sondreal pass was atrocious, I am sure he did not want to go back to the bench after that one. Hagens penalty was really witless, don't think he will do that again. If he were playing in the NHL someone would have buried him on his next shift, don't think he will do that again. Nice to see Shamberger get one, even if it was gift wrapped. Expect a low scoring game Monday because it looks like BU has found a goalie. Need Jellevik and Herschuk back, great shot blocker and uses his stick very well to disrupt the rush.

He was clearly offside and thinking maybe he didn't hear the whistle. Listening to Powers and Rish, Powers made it sound like it was overblown. But Hagens should know better and obviously didn't know about the misconduct or possible game disqualification along with this unsportsman like penalty.

After the last BU game, Monday could be another one goal game and whoever scores first could be the winner. Yegorov is pretty good and BC cannot make any mistakes like last night against UNH. The long drive back was worth it I guess.

I couldn't believe the game was sold out after driving all that way. When I tried to buy online it wasn't processing my order. So I ended up getting in buying a SRO ticket and luckily found an empty seat to sit in. There were empty seats around, so either some people didn't show up or resellers had the other tickets.

Not so certain about the offsides as the puck was way overhead as it crossed the blue line. The whistle does not blow until an offensive player touches it so that whistle came when Hagens got the puck halfway into the zone. He only took one or two strides at most before shooting it. I am guessing the 10 minutes may have come from him saying something instead.

I was sitting in that end and clearly saw how deep into the zone he was before the puck enter the zone or blue line. Not being aware of where you are and where the puck is will cost this team again. My seat was directly parallel to the side of the net and at the same time listening to the BC team broadcast. Powers didn’t even know about the penalty and the automatic assessment of either a 10-minute misconduct or game disqualification possibility. Obviously he went into a rant that it was BS call and then kind of slowly retract from it after learning of the penalty and why a misconduct was automatically added. One or the other was added. No ifs and buts. As a player you better be alert 🚨 or there are consequences

BC now a unanimous #1 in the USCHO with all 50 first place votes; we're definitely going to lose tonight. I hate this.
Sorry it took me so long to reply. It’s hard to find ones eyes after they’ve rolled all the way out of your head. 😛

You guys have about as much of a chance of losing as BU does winning a face off on a power play. Enjoy the victory!

Baffling team after a dominant 1st period then the dreaded period 2 blues and kudos to BU finishing off the eagles in period 3

Is this the return of 1 beanpot per decade before York broke that trend ? Looks like it

Did not play a 60 minute game

Why was the hit on Minnitiam change from a major to a minor? It was clearly boarding and it drew blood 🩸 after watching the replay at home.

Broadcasters believed it was because Minnetian turned at the last moment. It was a valid boarding call, no doubt, but the overarching concern is people doing that (turning at the last moment of a hit to make the damage worse) intentionally to draw a major.

Not that Minnetian was trying to do that– game goes fast, maybe it was a jerk reaction. What is actively being avoided is setting such a precedent, both because it is a scummy move, and it's dangerous as hell for the player. When coaches say "sacrificing the body", I don't think they mean it like that... 😬

Goalie can do it for you, last night he kept BU in it. The game turned on a few big plays in the second and then it was rope a dope in the third.

Well, we all knew this was coming. What a sad, predictable performance.

BU now has the better goalie and everyone in the world knows it. What a move by Pandolfo. BU is now in serious consideration for the national championship.

I still think the boarding call should have been 5, the turn was NOT a late turn and there were several feet of spacing for Amonte to stop BUT given the sad state of the PP they would not have scored anyway. The bigger thing for me was not calling a penalty shot on the Perreault breakaway to start the 2nd. It was close but I prefer to see a PS awarded when it's a clear scoring chance like that and a clear penalty.

The Perreault turnover was about as bad as you'll see and I'm sure he knows it. Out of all the guys on the ice, to see him make that mistake was crazy. I'm not going to call out anyone else but there are some guys that belong on a milk-carton (and others I won't even say where they belong). The Gustafsson turnover is pointless to worry about as the game was already over and they weren't going to sniff a goal anyway (but it was bad).

Anyway, they were due for a loss and you hope there are lessons to be learned but this team will not be winning any trophies when the postseason rolls around. Not with this coaching staff. Ceglarski 2.0. Enjoy.

Well that was quite the turn after the first 20.

Hard to go too crazy given they have an 83% chance to be the #1 overall seed but as the great Nick P points out there are issues that need resolving or there's a serious chance they get bounced by a Maine-type in a regional final.

Powerplay: outside of a couple of games in mid - late Jan IIRC it's been bad for a long time.
Hagens / Stiga wing: I have no idea how long oskar is out but they were completely invisible 5 on 5 esp after the 1st. Berard isn't the answer nor is Dean.
Secondary scoring, talked about it last year and was never an issue until it was.
Hopefully a 1 game issue but given strength of this team they should never be allowing 44 shots.

Also I forgot to mention aside from the PP, I've been beating the drum on this team's pathetic faceoff skills for some time and this is going to be another fatal flaw for this team. It's been an issue for the past two seasons. They are going to get pumped by someone in the NCAAs that knows how to play hockey just like the St. Cloud game with Boldy/Newhook/Knight. Just change the names to Leonard/Perreault/Fowler. I'd like to see a breakdown as it seemed they won a good amount in the first period and their goal directly came off a faceoff win in the offensive zone but it was the same old after that.

We know they practice because pictures go up on social media every week. It's just a question to me of what they practice and why this festering problem from the past two seasons hasn't seemingly been addressed.

"The Gustafsson turnover is pointless to worry about as the game was already over and they weren't going to sniff a goal anyway (but it was bad)." Why not call him out too? Those two turnovers directly resulted in goals and put the nail in the coffin. Also what was the decision to put Dean on the second line? He has been horrible this year... That was a very bad decision - he is not a playmaker and kept that line from being impactful.

I also want to point out that BC was pushed around in the 2nd and 3rd. BU threw some bodies around and prevented BC from their speed and puck possession game. BC did not know how to respond and the coaching staff did not adjust.

It's a great team. But there are cracks in the foundation that need to be fixed or good teams are going to exploit.
