Boston College 2024-25 TV * JG * MG

This team is offensively challenged. PPG allowed in 4 straight ……. 7186 on a Tuesday night including a packed student section.

Both teams looked like they were playing with heavy legs and the top line for BC did not generate too many quality chances, too many games in a short stretch and they go up against a Providence teams that has had 10 days off. Yikes. The third period Harvard was able to keep the puck in BC's end and a couple of great blocks out in front of Fowler made a difference. The lone Harvard goal was a snipe on the PP. This is going to be a tough stretch, Providence, BU, one with UML and then Beanpot.

That was an ugly, boring, desultory performance, but at least they got the win. They had best not play like that Friday against Providence or nobody is going to like the result. BTW, does anyone know why Minnetian and Powell were out last night and how long (or short) they will be out?

We have to remember that we are without Minetian and Powel who both generate a lot of offense. Any update on their injuries?

Go Eagles

Great win! That was a heavyweight battle and BC never really took their foot off the gas, could have been much worse for PC.

The new lines seem to work well. Powell was still out. Minnetian was back and terrific.

MSU lost, back to #1 in PWR.

Fowler did not have to be great last night but he had to be on his toes on a few of the saves, like the clean break away, he stoned him. He has allowed 2 goals in the last three games. The defense is playing very well, even with guys out, not allowing much open ice. Gasseau had a good game and Latourneu actually had a presence. Of course the top six were skating hard and controlling the puck for most of the game. Providence is a tough team, they don't have great scorers, besides Connelly, but they are an excellent team. It is not by accident that they have 15 wins.

You could tell within the first few minutes that BC had brought their skating legs last night. That team bore zero resemblance to the team that showed up against Merrimack the week before. They needed to bring a strong effort last night and they did. Packed house, great atmosphere, quality opponent, excellent win. It would have been nice if a recruit or two was in for a visit last night, that would have made the right impression.

Need to keep it up now. At Providence tonight. Two with BU next weekend. Hockey East is tough again this year.

Yes it seemed like PC getting physical with Letourneau after the whistle actually flipped a switch and he had a good game after that (the late non-scratch the other night probably helped light a fire too). He had a fantastic slot redirect of a point shot that almost went in.

Big time sweep especially given that this was game #5 in 9 days. All things considered they were fortunate to get the early lead with the large disparity in shot attempts and zone time (aided by another tough night on faceoffs) in the first period or 2. Fowler was huge and that right arm save after the turnover behind the net was beyond big.

PP is starting to heat up.

This week will be big for getting healthy and resting up some. Next weekend will be crazy.

Good sweep, I wish I went to the game down in Providence instead of Conte but my friends convince me to go to the hoops game which we all knew what was going to happen. Starting to see more of a complete game finally. PP still needs work and adjustments. It takes them awhile often and PP seems at times chaotic and forced. Like Powers says don't always force passes up the middle when there's no opening and go for the sure short open passes and get pucks on net. PC was hot winning 8 straight games. Next test are our arch rivals and hopefully they continue the solid play next weekend. Happy to see other players contributing more as they cannot depend on one line to do all the scoring.

Solid win from the goal on out but as noted face offs are a weakness. Prov scored off a face off to start a PP. It took 3 seconds. Need Powell to return. Minnetian is playing so well, he was all over the ice last night.

Now we're cooking with gas! Almost hard to believe they could go from how flat they were the Merrimack game to a 2 game sweep of a red hot Providence team in that short a time frame. Yes, it will be important to get Powell back, but other than him being out, it's hard to have imagined the weekend having gone much better. Bring on the Terriers.

They were 1 for 1 on the power play last night.

Overall this season the PP is way off compared to last year when BC had two solid lines with Cutter and Smith. Yeah it looks great 1 for 1 but there are times on a PP there's a lot of wasted energy and disorganization. This includes the passing and blind drop passes that lead to turn overs. This late into the season the PP should look much better than it should.

On the 5 minute majors this year, BC looked horrible when they had them. Also of note during PPs, Fowler has saved their *** when the team turns the puck on a PP and allows breakins on Fowler.

The PP looks infinitely better since they swapped out the roles, moving Leonard to the bumper role, adding Stiga down low and Perrault up top. I hope they continue to role with Gustafson up top and move Powell to PP2. I know they did it while Powell was out but keep it. Powell is too puck dominant and doesn’t get pucks to the net. Gustafsson is much more apt to move it quicker to Hagens or Perrault than Powell was. We’ll see this weekend though

Looking forward to the games this weekend.
Get pucks on net and tight defense, effective passing, solid goaltending, etc and 60 minute hockey.
3 solid games after the MC loss.

5 on 5 BC was the better team. Just a terrific team effort. Leonard ? what can you say, he is just an incredible talent. Fowler was great and stood tall in the third, BC was outshot 15 -3 in the third and lost too many face offs. Tomorrow's another game but they have themselves in a good place with the win and now in first in the standings.

Beautiful stuff.

Caron is basically their Matti K with the five hole goals. Wouldn’t be shocked if Pandolfo goes to this new kid tomorrow; Caron’s been scouted and this kid is an unknown and a built in excuse if they lose.

One of BU’s goals was a gift of a bounce too (not sure why Leonard didn’t whack that puck below the goal line of the near corner to let Fowler get back in position).

Conte will be jumping, big chance to stomp BU and gain control of Hockey East by securing another tiebreaker. Need to just be composed and stay out of the box.

Get out the brooms. The forwards seemed slow tonight to both move their feet and make decisions and move the puck.

If nothing else this shows how solid the BC defense is. This team is built from the net out. Fowler obviously was outstanding. All 5 of their returning Dmen that play regularly are just criminally underrated to varying degrees. It's a fantastic unit when they don't fall asleep.

Do you think Leddy was a solid defender? Not sure why he transferred to the Quinnipiac
