Boston College 2024-25 TV * JG * MG

Tough early season schedule but they have shown some serious talent and grit, two come from behind (dramatic) wins. Enjoy these games, everyone stay healthy and we could have another special season. Have to like what we have seen so far.

You should, your team has outstanding goaltending, stingy defense, killed off all penalties so far this year, a lethal power play, a deadly top line(might be best top line in country??), and outstanding depth. All the components to be a legit title contender. Congrats on the sweep. Hope to see Maine and BC play again in the postseason at TD Garden.

There no way not to be thrilled at how this season has gone so far. 7-1 record with 2 wins against Maine, 2 at St. Cloud, a win at Michigan St., a win against Western Michigan. They've dished out Maine's only losses and Michigan State's only loss with their one loss being a one goal game on the road against a Top 4 team. As long as health cooperates, they should be right there contending at the end of the season for the second year in a row.

Let's see if J Hagens, Gasseau, Stiga can make up the production losing Cutter and Smith. Leterneau is a work in progress but his size and reach is a positive. Berard is also a good addition. Jelvik needs to stay healthy and keep contributing.

Letourneau is making great strides. He has improved every game. It may not show on the stat sheets but he mixes well in the corners and has good puck movement. I think he is ahead of what Brian Boyle was as a freshman. Boyle was a similar 1st round pick with great size. Boyle took off in his sophomore year after only getting 8 points as a freshman. I like what I see from Letourneau and he should surpass Boyle's freshman stats as the year progresses.

LETOURNEAU is often compared to Tage Thompson of the Sabres and Dean himself mentions that in an interview I saw. BC obviously is glad to have him come aboard.

Did anyone watch last night and know what Fowler did to get a 5 minute major game misconduct for roughing? He's now suspended for the Providence game as well. Not great Bob.

A player scored on him but slid into him and wiped him out and took him with him behind the net. As the UConn scorer went to get up he punched him with his blocker hand. They reviewed and he was given a major and a misconduct. Hockey East has reviewed it and suspended him for one game.

Yeah, I found it earlier myself. A surprising loss of composure for a player who has been remarkably unshakable. Hopefully just a one time incident not to be repeated as opposed to him transforming into Ron Hextall. It will hurt not having him in the lineup for the game at Providence for sure.

Well, it sure is nice having Ryan Leonard on the team. Game tying goal late in the third...check. Overtime game winner...check. And of course what he did on the OT game winner was just absurd.

Yet another come from behind win, another quality road win, and they survived a tough game without Fowler. Onward.

Leonard scores twice in the third to win in overtime. Providence is a tough hard nosed team, not a lot of scorers but BC is not exactly high scoring (besides the top line) right now. Leonard is really a force out there, Korec did a very good job, he was solid.

What a win. Hit a few posts in there too (Hagens/Stiga). Have to give HUGE credit to Jan Korec for getting a big road win between the pipes.

A lot can and will be made of Leonard getting a penalty to negate the PP right before he came out of the box to tie the game but I think it's important to point out that a PC player seemed to kick the prone BC player on the ice (Perreault?) who had drawn the tripping penalty. There's a reason why both Hagens and Leonard went after the PC player immediately. Can we expect the league to dole out a little supplemental discipline or is kicking a guy with a hockey skate on ok? Dirty af and the official was standing right there in the corner 10 feet from it. Of course Colby Cohen missed it.

What Leonard is doing so far this year is ridiculous. To even attempt to do what he did in OT was crazy. That he actually scored on it is absurd and points to how good he is. It's almost impossible to turn the blade over behind your back and get leverage to backhand toe it into the net (most would try between the legs or spin slightly to forehand it).

Most of these wins lately are all tight affairs requiring coming back late in the game. Need to get going earlier in the game. The PP is not good at all. Might need to move some line combinations around.

My seats are on the glass at Schneider. This happened right in front of us. I told my wife that someone would have to stick up for Perrault as soon as it happened. Kudos to Leonard.

The problem was Fowler was so frustrated by the lack of support by his team. UConn was piling up shot after shot as it was like the whole team took the night off after scoring first goal in opening period. The BC radio team, mainly Andy Powers was ripping the whole BC team for just going through the motions. BC played for 5 minutes in the opening period, 2nd period dominated by UConn, and BC only started playing in the last 6 minutes of the game. After the UConn goal in the 2nd period the UConn player skated into Fowler and knocked him over. That's when he lost it.

2nd period BC has been taking off for whatever reason and Powers has ripped the team on the air for this. But why isn't Brownie saying anything ??? He's on the bench and needs to light a fire now and then when the team is coasting or just showing up thinking the game is won. Hopefully they learn or else this pattern will continue. This is a bad trend and they better wake up.

Talent means nothing unless you're ready to play each game or else even a UConn team will beat you after losing to Stonehill and swept by MC.
Lack of hustle and lack of the sense of urgency is not a good excuse to lose games they should win. Another rip by Powers were the turnovers. On one shift 4 turnovers that led to a goal for the opposing team. Powers is right, no excuse for mistakes like that.

Don't disagree with the comments from BC Eagle about the Uconn game, Fowler let his frustrations boil over on the Uconn goal scorer, can't happen again. I do think Powers needs to calm down on the broadcast. No problem with criticizing the effort but complaining about the calls and shouting go go go when a BC player is moving with the puck it just not good announcing. Being such a homer takes away from his good hockey sense and analysis. Also we do not know what Brown said between periods but what ever it was it seemed to work in the third both at Uconn and Providence. It seems that Brownie is pretty low key behind the bench and so far it seems to be working. BC is the youngest team in college hockey and many of the clubs are skating 23 and 24 year olds. Last year BC benefited greatly from the seasoned hands of Malone and Armstrong, need some more of that from the upper classmen this year.

If brownie is saying anything it has to be before it gets worse and starts to implode

or before it happens if it’s a repeat breakdown from previous games

you cannot have a team just play parts of a game, 5 minutes here and 5 minutes there

60 minutes is hard to sustain but you cannot repeatedly have bad 2nd periods or over passing and not get any shots on net

there’s no doubt there’s talent on the team but talent alone does not win a game

you have have pay attention to detail and not go through the motions in parts of the game and expect the other team to lay down

every team circles their calendar on BC

Certainly UConn didn’t and BC waited too long to start attacking and play defense

otherwise another good season with no trophies to speak of

powers was a player and has a right to criticize bad BC play

I watched Andy play and he was an excellent player, he bleeds Maroon and Gold but he would be better if he curbed the cheerleading. No problem with him criticizing the play just tone it down, don't second guess every penalty and openly hollering for the next play oass. Starting to sound like Bernie Corbett. Rish is great, Powers could be better.

38% from the faceoff dot. If they don't fix this they won't be sniffing a single postseason trophy.

Blow up the lines to get at least two solid lines going; it's a one-line team right now and that almost never works out come tournament time. Move Letourneau off the 2nd PP unit - I don't feel like at this point we need to do anything to please Don Sweeney, everyone hates him anyway.

On another note, Nolan Joyce was quite good on D tonight so shoutout to him. Posma also made a smart play to throw the puck into the crease from behind the goal line on the Leonard goal.

The PP will work itself out IMO but it's bad right now. Can't expect Leonard and Perreault to win every game for you.

Whitehead was the difference last night, made some really good saves, hit at least 1 pipe in the 5 minutes major(Hagens). Face offs are a huge problem. Second line was better tonight but the other lines are not a threat on offense. Home ice is always an advantage, it was ours on Friday and theirs last night.
