Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only hope

This team wouldn't have done any better if the top line was reunited...it is what it is

This is something I happen to disagree with. Doesn't matter anymore though. They had chemistry, mojo, and rolled over the boards and imposed their will on teams. Something this team never had after the line breakup (probably a panic move that was ok at the time).

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

so you are saying that they wanted to beat traffic?
would the same deserters have left early had BC been up 10-0, in order to beat traffic, or would they have been there, on the bandwagon, while the team was winning?

I think that Melissa Wade is right, that people should have shown the seniors and the entire team a little more respect. it would meant only another 15-30 minutes out of their lives. I am sure the players noticed that they had nobody behind them when they lost.

yawn, go pound sand with your team. We can take it from all of you that come to post the rare times the Eagles are down, have at it

hey, the "bc way".

they come on and mock bu students when they wait after the game and chant "thank you seniors" after losing a beanpot or two, or at the regionals in a loss. but they all rush home to get enough sleep to get up for church and it's a-ok!

shame shame shame...\
does bceagles.com have football practice schedules up on the home page :p

you, as the most credible person on here, lose credibility with your useless ,inane post loss bashes. Enjoy yourself, it's your time

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

And if they reunited top line, arnold would be with "chicken chit". Just didn't have the personnel to make
things work IMO.

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

True. Honestly and it's not bashing the kids but to see the players we rolled with on the 2nd pp unit ... That is bad for any division 1 pp2 unit. Let alone BC.

So?
Mullane with Whitney and anyone else, but Gaudreau, was chicken chit.
Arnold with Gaudreau and anyone else, but Whitney, was chicken chit.
Why have all chicken chit when you can have one line of chicken salad?
One line scoring 3 goals gives you a chance to succeed. Four lines scoring 0-1 goals, not so much. Just sayin'.

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Would the new lines stop giving up constant odd man rushes or eliminate egregious turnovers in your own end?

Just didn't have the horses this year, especially after Hayes went down. As referenced above, just look at the 2nd powerplay unit.

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

you know.... i'm not seeing much of an issue scoring on this union squad :p

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Hayes / Fitzgerald / Gadreau
Cangelosi / Arnold / Calnan
Straight / Richardson / Gilmour
Smith / Linell / Silk

Mathewson / Santini
Doherty / McCoshen
Macleod / Savage

For BC to have any success next year, either some of the under performers are going to have to have Chris Collins or Barry Almeida Type turnarounds or a couple Freshmen are going to have to put up big numbers from the get go.

And if only one scoring line develops out of this group, break that line up and develop no scoring lines. Never too soon to start thinking up the possibilities, eh?
BTW... Linell struggles playing wing. How's he going to play center?

OK... this season is water over the dam. But given that a lot of folks here were all for breaking up the first line this season to 'spread out the scoring', here's a hypothetical for next season:

Lets say a line of maybe Gaudreau-Arnold-Hayes is cruising along at 3 gpg and the rest of the team is struggling to score.
How would you guys propose to ph'k that scoring line up?
You've got the entire off season to try and figure out how to make chicken salad out of chicken chit. :D

Yea, that Jones-Jones-Peca line is scoring too much. Break up that line and spread it out. They're making the other lines look bad.

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

If there are only three guys who can score next year, the only way they will win big games is if they are able to shut things down like lowell is currently doing. Do you have any confidence that bc will be a great defensive team next year with great goaltending?

are you saying that they could not be, if needed?

you are not implying that jerry has no idea how to do so, are you?

No idea. Have to see what comes in. With what we've got right now and no additional help, we'll be in big trouble.
I'm not saying we win the NC, Hockey East or the East Regional with a line of Gaudreau-Mullane-Whitney. All I'm saying is that line gave us our best chance to win any game. I never understood breaking it up. Would you break up that Jones-Jones-Peca line?

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Of course he does, they became one last year. I am saying the d/goaltending will still be very young/inexperienced next year.

and jerry's bread and butter has been the growth and development of all his guys.

i can't believe you need MOOKIE to come in and be the voice of calm and reason here.... :D

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Wow! This East Regional Final is like deja vu all over again. :D

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Would you break up that Jones-Jones-Peca line?

Considering QU leads the nation in team defense and Hartzell has a .932 save percentage, no, I wouldn't. So if BC can be that type of defensive team...

I'm not concerned about the growth/development across three or four years, but I am concerned about a defense with one senior and a bunch of sophomores/freshmen.

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Considering the glut of worthless forwards perhaps it was silly to kick KJ Tiefenwerth to the curb? You have to wonder about the staff when they evaluated some of these kids and told him he wasn't going to crack this lineup. There has to be a lot of nervous kids right now with this class coming in. Most don't belong anyway.

How about captains next year? I'm putting Arnold at good odds to wear the C. After that I am not sure... Might see a junior or two get an A.

the problem i saw with KJ was fitting him into the roster the next 3 years. who knows who got that scholarship. if it was mccoshen or demko, would you still make that trade? looks like KJ decommitted in Oct 11 and later that month they recruited Hanafin. just food for thought

I would bet Calnan or Gilmour ends up on the 1st line.
