Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Don't agree here

One of the worst Sr classes in many years.
Lost HE reg season title, lost in semis in HE tourn and got blown out in 1st rd of NCAA.

I would say it is fair in saying the Sr class had very little to do with 3 previous years.
Just an observation. Lots of hardware but zero their sr year outside Beanpot

Welcome back hokydope!

Do not understand why alleged BC fans - going by their clothing - couldn't be bothered to cheer the team at all and then large percentage left early. From the postgame release: BC’s senior class, which captured four Beanpot titles, three Hockey East Tournament championships, two league regular-season titles and two NCAA championships, concluded its stellar four-year careers with a combined record of 114-40-9. Seriously, you can't stick around a little longer to applaud them?

Wait really?

BC has led HE in attendance by a wide margin for this classes SO, JR, & SR years.
___

Presented without comment, here are the 3rd lines from the last game of recent seasons:

09-10: Kreider-Smith-Hayes
10-11: Almeida-Arnold-Whitney
11-12: Gaudreau-Mullane-Carey

Funny that BC has serious trouble in the NCAAs in some buildings and generally goes berserk in Worcester and Manchester.

St Louis - 1-2 record w two of the worst losses ever, one a blown 3rd period lead in the national title game.

Providence - 2-3 w a raping vs Union and blowing a 3rd period lead in the national title game.

Worcester or bust.

I believe she was referring specifically to last night.

Agreed but if people want to beat the traffic at midnight before Easter, I can't blame them.

This group has been well supported throughout their time at BC

+1. They received plenty of applause in their 4 years. Easter was the next day and people have families and lives. They don't have to follow someone's self-perceived rules of fan etiquette.

I approve of these posts. I walked out the door at 5-0. ;)

absolutely. I am sick of having to defend the BC Hockey fan base. People just don't know what they are talking about

With this D we knew this team had the chance to get bent over and surely they did.

The only good thing is the only jersey change a non-senior on this team will have will be from a jersey to a suit.

Good thing Jerry has his best recruiting class at BC coming in next year as the only players who I'd be shocked if they're not playing on opening night are: 12, 13, 24, 27, 5 & I guess 7 since he's a senior. Going to be nice to have some competition for minutes.

Hey it's on odd year anyways :D

Congrats to the most successful SR class in BC history, 4 beanpots, 3 HE tourney champs, 2 HE RS champs, 2 National Championships.

Don't see too many beating that run.

Edit: just saw this:
RT @GeorgeRichards #FlaPanthers GM Dale Tallon hints to ST holders Bjugstad (UMinn) and Matheson (BC) could be here in final month

I too want to congratulate this BC senior class (that remains from the original freshman class). They have been a part of one of the most successful runs in college hockey history.

Success on the ice from year to year has so many variables and while this year didn't result in meeting the unprecedented expectations that arrive with winning 3 national titles in 5 years it was very good by all other standards.

It is amazingly dificult to go all the way and to do it as often as this group has is exceptional. Congratulations to these young men for their entire body of work. They will be replaced by new talent that will step into a culture of winning that these seniors have helped create at BC.

I will say that while we all easily could have seen a loss last night, still disappointing to see it end like THAT. I stuck around till the end and got home a little before 1. You can't blame anyone for leaving early.

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Hard to feel too bad for a senior class with such a resumé. 11 trophies, including 2 national championships? Are you sh****ng me? Congrats to them on solid careers.

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

If you look at the Fr, So and Jr classes, there is really only one dynamic Forward amongst them and that is JG who as we all know fell into our lap. Arnold is obviously a very, very good player, but not really an elite offensive talent. Same with Hayes, a solid player for sure, but as an NHL first rounder, hasn't quite developed into the goal scorer we anticipated he'd become like his brother Jimmy did. As others have pointed, Straight, Linell and Silk aren't showing much promise for scholarship guys and we'll never know what kind of player Vatrano could have become. If nothing else, have to figure Fitz and Cangelosi are the real deal and will help get us back on track.

I stayed until they broke the shutout but by then the game was just about over anyways. Not too shabby this senior class but thanks and congratulations to them and to UC for a perfect game for them. Beating the national defending champs gives them and the ECAC some respectability back. Yale beating UND tops it off.

Hayes was playing well and is a high end player. Very high end

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Hayes / Fitzgerald / Gadreau
Cangelosi / Arnold / Calnan
Straight / Richardson / Gilmour
Smith / Linell / Silk

Mathewson / Santini
Doherty / McCoshen
Macleod / Savage

For BC to have any success next year, either some of the under performers are going to have to have Chris Collins or Barry Almeida Type turnarounds or a couple Freshmen are going to have to put up big numbers from the get go.

Hoky, just because you redeemed yourself with the Union win, let's not get crazy now. I do like Hayes a lot, but he was on a pace to score about 10 goals this year and considering his resume, I think we expected a lot more than that. Again, shows flashes, but not even close to his brother. As an aside, what are you hearing about his health and ability to play next year?

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Considering the glut of worthless forwards perhaps it was silly to kick KJ Tiefenwerth to the curb? You have to wonder about the staff when they evaluated some of these kids and told him he wasn't going to crack this lineup. There has to be a lot of nervous kids right now with this class coming in. Most don't belong anyway.

How about captains next year? I'm putting Arnold at good odds to wear the C. After that I am not sure... Might see a junior or two get an A.

Tiefenwerth and Vatrano have to be better than all the F and So forwards we have besides JG.................slam dunk Arnold is the captain. He epitomizes BC hockey and deserves it and will be a great captain and leader.

not only can we question the evaluation of the talent of two straight classes we can also question some decisions concerning the lines and defense but alas, wouldn't have made a difference. The team was just not good enough. Just like the team though, the coaching staff didn't have their best year's either, York's health not withstanding

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Chris McCarthy is another guy who could have helped out this year.

so you are saying that they wanted to beat traffic?
would the same deserters have left early had BC been up 10-0, in order to beat traffic, or would they have been there, on the bandwagon, while the team was winning?

I think that Melissa Wade is right, that people should have shown the seniors and the entire team a little more respect. it would meant only another 15-30 minutes out of their lives. I am sure the players noticed that they had nobody behind them when they lost.
