Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Anyone catch the 2012 NCAA Championship on ESPNU last night? Watching that stacked BC team only lowers expectations for this year's team. Of course anything is possible, but this team will have a tough time advancing any round in any draw.

The only hope is that they can put together 60 minutes like the first 30 minutes from Friday night.

Lastly, I would like to see Whitney/Mullane/Gaudreau and see if the other lines can hold their own defensively playing a safe "chip it out" "chip it in" game. There's just not enough good role players to spread the line-up out. Roll three lines and put the horses together on the top line.
You're coming around. ;)

Yup... let's see anyone shut down Gaudreau-Mullane-Whitney (not happening), and Smith reuniting with Brown-Dyroff can score some goals.

FWIW, I'm not a fan of Linnel moving back to forward. He did a good job back there and moves the puck out of the D zone quickly and efficiently, either by skating it out or with a nice pass on the tape. Does it better than any of our D men. Defensively he may not have the strength of the bigger guys, but I don't see where he has hurt us on D.

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

if anyone comes across or can find info on any BC gatherings (official or unofficial)...please pass that info along here! also, does anyone know what the designated BC section(s) are? i'll be heading down saturday with four others...

the one good thing about this game being at 9 is that i believe the potential west final between minny and und is on espnu at the same time as canisius-quinnipiac. would much rather watch that game at a bar in providence than attend the first game.

Parallel to Sabine is a street with a couple of potential places. One is called "Murphy's Pub" and there's another bar up the street. Few minutes away from the rink if you walk.

The BC ticket office said they will email back where BC fans will generally sit. Most lower level seats are gone but then again you can probably get them through the secondary market if fans bought tickets to the wrong regionals. I'd imagine ticket sellers bought up a chunk of the seats too and resell at a higher price.

We've been embarrassed before. Not that we like too, but we can handle it. ;)

According to USHR, Noah Hanafin is an absolute stud, so much so that it would be a miracle if he stays at BC more than a year. Casey Fitzgerald isn't far behind but lacks NHL size (which is probably a good thing for BC). Both look to be National team locks and Hanafin was described in Hockeyrecruits4you's blog as being a "man amongst boys" at the tryout camp. Would be interesting to see what Hoky thinks of these two. They clearly aren't good enough to make Union's roster. :-)

Two very talented kids and players. Hanafin might be the best BC d in many years. Fitzgerald has as good a skill set as any D out there as well. CF has great composure and has as good a stick and gap control as most college players. Pokes and jumps I to play in neutral zone as anyone I have seen in a long time. His ability to do that with BC's talent up front will mean many points...also has very light feet. If the D BC has coming in stays a couple years they will be best corp since Bobby Allen's GRP

Fyi, CF's dad was a teammate with Bennet at PC..

are they VERY good? nhl snaps up young defensemen as quickly as they can. good blueline help is hard to come by.

Gotta chime in with Hoky on this one. Went to the last two Mutch games at Harvard where CM plays St. Sebs. Hanafin was great two years ago and was waaay better this year. Vision, shot, judgment, talent all jaw dropping. Saw a lot of CF the last two years. Hoky hits it on the head when he comments on CF's light feet. His skating reminded me of Greg Brown. Not many skaters better on their blades than Greg Brown.

Allen, Mottau, Scuderi, Orpik, Hughes vs Santini, McCoshen, Savage, Hanafin, Fitzgerald (assuming Matheson will have gone pro by then. Think these guys have the potential to be even better.

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

I'm beginning to think it will be a miracle if hanafin ever arrives

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

Agreed. Hanafin I would guess would be 2/3 year guy....
The best part about Hanafin is that he keeps getting better. Very early puberty kid and was big early. With many that is a curse. Not with him. Everyone would say what will he do when everyone is 6'1". Well, he did better, period. Key is to keep trending up and they both do just that. Both are ready for the challenge at Natl team. Two great teammates as well and very coachable. You won't see any FM's on the point on pop with this corp

Hoky you have no shame

Re: Boston College '12-'13 Part III: Save us Hobey-John Gaudreaubey; you're our only

I wonder how Hanafin stacks up against Ryan Whitney at this age? Hopefully he stacks up better than Whitney as a collegian when all is said and done!
