Union very well may beat BC, but Hockey East was once again a better league...

Certainly not a great team, but the competition isn't at the best level either. I have a lot of respect for Union, they do have a lot of talent.

I do enjoy seeing Hockey East fans line up to pounce if BC loses when they know just like we do that this isn't your typical BC team. For this year's edition, there's no shame in losing to Union (unless it's another debacle like Friday night).

Some posters already have the Eagles slotted for Pittsburgh. Others say this year's team isn't quite as good a recent BC teams. Nice intramural discussion... ;)

Union does have a lot of talent and they relentlessly forecheck. They have not had the season they expected to have (a six week span in January/February wasn't kind) and are now playing very nasty playoff hockey. Their goalie is back on beam and they have scored in 17 of last 18 periods. Union, playing their game, is a real handful. Local press reports here have them viewing Friday's game against the defending champs with quiet determination.

This should be some game! Sleep on Union? At your own risk.

From an outsider's perspective, this BC team isn't the buzzsaw of years past, but I'm expecting them to be in Pittsburgh.

doesn't look like ticketmaster or bc is offering tickets for just saturday (at least yet). i think i read bc is already offering the full two-day package only...is this the NCAAs doing? considering sunday is easter, the least they could do is start offering tickets for saturday only immediately instead of people having to pay for everything and then eat the money if they can't go sunday.

From the UNH thread...apparently the NCAA "requires" the tickets to be sold as a package up until the DAY BEFORE the game. So that would mean, purportedly, that tickets for Saturday "should" be available Friday. :)

Agreed. Hanafin I would guess would be 2/3 year guy....
The best part about Hanafin is that he keeps getting better. Very early puberty kid and was big early. With many that is a curse. Not with him. Everyone would say what will he do when everyone is 6'1". Well, he did better, period. Key is to keep trending up and they both do just that. Both are ready for the challenge at Natl team. Two great teammates as well and very coachable. You won't see any FM's on the point on pop with this corp

Hanafin at age 15 often looked like the best player on the ice despite playing against 18 yr old D-1 recruits. I'm a BU fan but your future through 2016 looks phenomenal. Your incoming freshman class has to be the best in the nation. You're getting some serious size in your forwards but they are so fast and skilled that you'll be gaining speed. BC is looking unbeatable from my perspective. You'll look more like an NHL team than a college team with that kind of size.

Hayes tweeted out a picture of him getting his stitches out if you want to make your stomach churn

Insert Hayes joke.

I'm running an NCAA hockey tournament pool if anyone is interested.

$10 entry. $10 to 3rd place, $40 to 2nd place, the rest to 1st place.

Scoring as follows:

10 points for 1st round, 20 for 2nd, 40 for 3rd, 80 for the championship game.

Pick margin of victory for the 1st round games. If you are correct, 2 point bonus per game.
If your bracket has the eventual national champion going out in the 1st round, you're docked 50 points.
If your bracket has the eventual national champion going out in the 2nd round, you're docked 25 points.

Fill out your bracket here, or you can email it to me at grant dot salzano at gmail dot com. If you know me on facebook you can send it there as well.

Payment can be sent by paypal to grant dot salzano at gmail dot com. If you do enter, MAKE SURE you send the money as a "gift." Paypal deducts a couple percent otherwise. I must actually receive the full $10.

Once the entry fee is received, your bracket will officially go up on the big board at www.tinyurl.com/2013ncaahockey.

Let me know if there are any questions.

CW is Patrick Eaves all over again but faster. Off the charts natural talent with skating that might be Kreider like by the time he gets there. Dad was a Heisman candidate as a QB at G Tech. Very good size. Only thing I would be concerned with is concussions as he has had several from hockey and football. Not sure if he still plays but was very passionate a year ago. For my money the best f in the east for his age
