Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

Inyorkwetrust , the game after t'giving is always a great crowd. In my 6 years, the Harvard game a few years ago had the most people Ive ever seen in Conte, even the lower bowl:rolleyes: was packed. I expect 7000+

Yeah that Harvard game stands out to me as well.

I won't be there but gave my tickets away so they'll be used. No happy I'm missing this one, I like seeing new teams come to Conte (I can only take so much of UMass, PC, etc). The lone benefit of HE expansion!

I'd expect a very good crowd (unless people are too busy celebrating Spaz & TOB walking off into the sunset together :D)

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

This weekend is such a big game/win in terms of Jerry tying or breaking the all time wins record with rival BU looking on from the other side of the ice. There's a lot of hockey to be played before it can happen, and BC is due for a let down, but it would be great theater watching Jack having to sit through a "best college hockey coach ever" ceremony for Jerry. You can't script it any better for BC fans.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

I've been on the boards. Haha. I saw the press conference from the banner-raising game on youtube, with Coach York and Gaudreau. Gaudreau said it was cool seeing Gionta, Orpik and Gerbe there. I was wondering what other members of the 2001 team were in attendance.

I would love to see a lot of the full time NHL guys at the home-and-home with BU, in case Coach York breaks the record.

From 2001 I believe it was Peterson, Cass, Dziama, Kelleher and Egan.

Voce was there as well, which is surprising as I can't remember him ever making an appearance. Heck of a player.

I believe Bobby Allen was also there. He usually is.

edit - Brooks Orpik was also def. there.

Good memories you two. Allen and Brooks Orpik were there, as well as Andrew Orpik.

Thanks. I could have sworn Coach York said Brian Gionta held up the trophy. Was he there?

I don't remember him being there... the ovation on his introduction would have been huge. Gerbe got a heck of an ovation, but Johnny G. got the ovation of the night.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

With all this talk of raising banners, I want to be witness to the first BC class that wins 4 championships. :)
I travel to BC Frozen Fours (except those played in football stadiums ) and I'm looking forward to weighing down my 2001 FF hat with more FF pins. The only pins that make it on the cap are BC championships.

So Quinnipiac already has a nice new arena, are 8-3-1, and just won at Providence (along with at Alfond earlier this year)...we added the wrong school from CT.

come on, you know, we needed the UConn brand too:rolleyes:

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

BC basketball v. Auburn drew 3,000 people tonight...half what a BC hockey game would draw on average. Somewhere, Gene DeFilippo is aware of this. Or ought to be.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

You guys are in the ACC and can't even halfway fill your basketball arena..... Ouch.

It will be 'more full' when good teams come to town, but hockey will clearly outdraw basketball, on an average basis, once the season is done. Auburn = Keene State as far as that goes. The larger issue is that while hockey might not bring in the $$$ that basketball does, it's a respectable program under York's stewardship. And respect begets respect. Which is why hockey will draw between 6,000-7,000 while basketball will draw between 5,000-6,000. Sure, they'll bang it out for Duke and UNC, but a crowd the size of tonight's will greet them for most of the others. DeFilippo's legacy.

not sure what being in the ACC means in terms of filling the arena. you know how it works, if the product is good, they will come. same deal at just about every school and in just about every city, college or pros
