Biden v Dump 1: If not now, when? If not us, who?

Can we let the guy make a few more posts before jumping all over him? He hasn't come across anywhere near the likes of Jeb or Flag so can't we please be more accommodating? I'd like to see this place grow not die on the vine like it has been.

First allow me to defend myself before I am eaten alive here. I am very frustrated with the current state of affairs in this country. I do not like Trump and I did not vote for him.
I like Klobuchar....so what? My mere opinion offended you? She was my choice, big deal.
My post was not intended to be viewed as being troll. I do apologize if that's what you thought. As far as Joe, he is not of sound mind to be running for President. Trump is a narcissist, egotistical lying sob.
I guess I should've posted something stating why can't we find younger candidates to run for President?
I hope this clears up matters.
Kepler- I'm no doorknob either.

Why would I be offended you like the Senator from my state? I like her too...she is just a terrible Presidential Candidate. She is where she belongs.

The problem is that trolls (in general) like to try and hide their trolling by using some no chance candidate from the Dems to show they are "even handed". In 2016...many of them used Joe Biden for that. "If Joe was the candidate I would vote Dem but since it is Hillary I will vote Third Party/Trump" was a very fun troll back then. Now many of those same people will say "If it was [insert person who got smoked by Biden here] I would vote for them but since it is Joe I cant". It is a little too convenient...

Now I will give you the benefit of the doubt and will admit I judged harshly.

I never liked the armchair diagnosing of Trump and I dont like it for Joe either. Even if I do believe he might be a step slower than he was (and it is just tough to tell because of how things are right now) he is still more "there" than Trump is and he is in way better shape to handle the rigors of the job. It isnt like he wasnt like this years ago...the man has been a gaffe machine since before he was Veep. I think that is just who he is...kind of an idiot.

It bugs the heck out of me that he was who the majority of Dems wanted (and really the majority of all Non-Trumpers) but I think people would rather elect the idiot who will do no harm just as a friggin pallet cleanser. His choice for Veep needs to be groomed for the Big Chair and probably after 4 years.

I tend to trust Pelosi's political instincts, but I hope the Ds don't lose the PR battle in these relief negotiations. There aren't a lot of things that could blow this election, IMO, but getting beat at this game certainly would not help.

I get that the substantive issues are critical, that some parts of the economy are running on fumes, so there are critical decisions to be made. But I just worry about a turnover with seconds left in the game. It's like I don't understand the schemes well enough to even know what I'd do as coach, but I just sit up in the stands and worry.

At this stage in the game I cannot believe there are any people who are planning to vote who are actually undecided. I never believed the numbers of undecideds anyway. I always think they are over-reported.

Barring some scandal tied to prominent democrats (pizza-gate turning out to be real) I cannot see anything the leadership among democrats doing as blowing this election. I think an attorney general-led corruption investigation of Biden and his family isn't even likely to have the same impact the Comey shenanigans had on turnout for Clinton in 2016. People who are going to bother to vote are wise to what has been going on with this president.

My only real concern is voter suppression and intimidation and fraudulent counting in republican areas of swing states. I believe that is the only arrow trump has left in his quiver. In fact, I do not believe a trump win will be legitimate.

I hate the new forum enough that I don't check it very often anymore. It doesn't even work on my phone, just pops a series of ads. But I miss the banter. If you guys decide to move over to reddit let me know, you could probably recruit a bunch of people from r/collegehockey to join a new r/uschopolitics

I tend to agree the vast majority of people are decided. But the margin of "gettables" that may be critical to this outcome is very small, so everything counts. Suppression is a big issue, but so is voter turnout not affected by suppression.

They cant afford to cave like they did last time. They looked weak and stupid...especially with the overall disaster that PPP turned out to be. (though it did help some) No more half measures. It isnt like people outside the Trump bubble are blaming Dems for the fact that the Senate GOP put together an awful plan (as did the White House) and they shouldnt just agree to it to avoid people who dont like them from liking them less.

On Kanye West...if that clown of a VP candidate is his mental health specialist that explains why he is off his friggin rocker.

While I cant stand reddit (the layout of threads kind of annoys me) we should find somewhere else to go. It is obvious the people in charge dont want us here anymore and watching it die a slow death is just sad. We should look into it. Hell I will even kick in some money.

I am going to look into it.

I suspect many of those currently polling as "undecided" are already planning to vote Trump and are intentionally answering otherwise when asked.

Undecideds tend to break for the incumbent on Election Day anyway.

Which is why one of the good signs is that Biden hovers around 50% in the polls. Hillary was always leading 45-42 or 47-44. That always leaves room for the other guy to jump ahead. But if you're up 49-42 or 50-45, there is much less room for the undecideds to swing against you.

Yeah there was a good analysis I think on 538 the other day, compared Biden's total and his margin against Trump state-per-state to where Hillary's total and margin were in polls. Biden pretty much always had a higher total; Hillary had a higher margin in some states, but those also were the states where she ended up doing much worse than the poll would expect. But the main thing was where she had good margins in polls but low totals is where she under-performed, and Biden is at or above 50% in those states now. Basically there were more people available to break to Trump in 2016 then there are now.

Man, the GOP is really upset that if a Democrat gets into the White House, they might lower the abortion rate another 20-30% like they did under the last two Democratic administrations, causing the GOP to lose a good wedge issue and money-raiser for them. It's in their best interest for the Republicans to stay in the White House and keep the abortion rate unchanged like they did in their last three administrations, so that they can continue to use it to distract from their failures and mistakes elsewhere.

Pester Adam. If enough of us beg maybe he'll add a forum to CHN.

Much like crime, which the GOP always tries to increase to scare the white middle class.

When this sh-t breaks it may break big. The Republicans have had their finger (and their donors, and their judges) in the dike for a decade holding back the will of a sizable majority -- anywhere from 55-60% of the people. You can't stop history you can only move with it and attempt to channel it. The Nazis may have unwittingly created conditions where instead of a 3 magnitude quake each of the last two elections they unleash a 9.

I hope so. We have 40 years of progress to make up after we clear away the wreckage of the fascist state. I really want those 99% top marginal rates. And if enough Americans want them even Chuck Schumer will eventually have to comply or get bent.

Goopers and their disinfo channels (Breitbart, Gateway Pundit, Faux, Twitter botskis) are trying really hard to make something out of Biden's "Are you a junkie?" response to the black reporter's question about taking a cognitive assessment.

Same shit, different cycle.

Step 1: "They're comin' fer yer gunz! Stock up now and vote Republican!"

Step 2: A Dem is elected, does nothing of consequence to restrict firearms even when they're in full control of both branches

Step 3: Repeat Step 1 and profit until a Republican is elected

Step 4: Take the money and run, lay low for 4 years, go back to Step 1

That's a lot of spending for a bankrupt organization...
