The Republicans have had their finger (and their donors, and their judges) in the dike for a decade holding back the will of a sizable majority -- anywhere from 55-60% of the people. You can't stop history you can only move with it and attempt to channel it. The Nazis may have unwittingly created conditions where instead of a 3 magnitude quake each of the last two elections they unleash a 9.

I hope so. We have 40 years of progress to make up after we clear away the wreckage of the fascist state. I really want those 99% top marginal rates. And if enough Americans want them even Chuck Schumer will eventually have to comply or get bent.

I guess it's on you to make sure she gets a big election gift.

Though we'll do our parts in helping to ensure the local parts of of it come through.

Barring some scandal tied to prominent democrats (pizza-gate turning out to be real) I cannot see anything the leadership among democrats doing as blowing this election. I think an attorney general-led corruption investigation of Biden and his family isn't even likely to have the same impact the Comey shenanigans had on turnout for Clinton in 2016. People who are going to bother to vote are wise to what has been going on with this president.

My only real concern is voter suppression and intimidation and fraudulent counting in republican areas of swing states. I believe that is the only arrow trump has left in his quiver. In fact, I do not believe a trump win will be legitimate.

There are always undecideds. It’s just how long that field is and what yard marker.

my original theory on undecideds:

I think the undecided window is real, but we're making a massive mistake in assuming it's the same people. That window shifts up and down the field and has a different width.

With an election of Romney-Obama, the undecided window might look like:

We've (maybe just the average dummy like me) have assumed they're always "centrists" and "independents". They aren't. They always move. This year the undecideds are right-wingers who haven't decided whether they can pull the lever for a nazi and live with themselves.

I’ll modify it to say it’s more complex than this. There are people who think that being undecided somehow makes them morally superior or whatever nonsense that helps them sleep. There is also a third dimension to that graph in that some people won’t vote or will refuse to vote for the other party regardless.

I'm trying to be hopeful but with the coronavirus, the voter suppression we know that has happened routinely in this century and will be happening as bad or worse this time, the extra violence and intimidation I expect in some of the worst parts of our country when people of color are trying to vote, and the all around evisceration of the USPS that is underway before an election that ideally would have seen a doubling of mail-in voting, I am really beginning to doubt any of us are going to feel good in the days and weeks after election day.

When Nixon was trying to save his hide Americans on both sides of the aisle basically said "no." Republicans --either because Republicans in 1974 still had souls or they simply saw the writing on the walls the electorate was scribbling -- took the right path and did what they needed to do to avert the worst crisis we may have seen in the presidency from bringing the country down. That is not going to happen in 2020. Trump has lost almost none of his support from the day people voted for him. There is no reason -- other than if they still have souls -- for republicans to do the right thing now. You can count on your hand how many republicans have souls. You will probably have fingers left over. If the worst happens on Election day and in the days to follow, republicans will not do the right things, they will fan the flames.

This country needs to either figure this 5h!t out or get on with dying.

It's going to be up to the Dems and the voters to ensure there is an evidentiary trail for all ballots, otherwise the conservatives will simply shred them. That's what happens in every other right wing dictatorship masquerading as a democracy.

This is not rare, it's the righty gameplan everywhere they can get away with it. With Dump and the GOP having destroyed the Courts there is no help on the way: we have to do it ourselves.

We will either break their control this November or there won't be a free and fair election in this country without a lot of bloodshed.

It's 1933. They are already rolling and we know what the future looks like from history.
