Biden v Dump 1: If not now, when? If not us, who?

Pretty much what F2B&G said. Still a bunch of Repubs that will vote to prevent the Dems from controlling all three branches if they can stop it.

Obviously the Republicans will do anything, legal or otherwise, to keep the Heists rolling. That means stopping the Dems by any means necessary. And that is why our first job, before we actually do any policy, is to undo their damage to our democracy to prevent them from gaining power again.

My understanding is most if not all quality polls treat "already voted" as just an extremely likely voter in their models. So the only way it should be impacting polls is if the voter would otherwise have been considered an unlikely voter.

If Biden is +7 in GA its gonna be a bloodbath.

Will Trump argue for more time to count if he is getting trounced on Election Night and how much will you laugh when he does!?

Laugh? No. Because I believe If/when that happens and people decide to gloat and celebrate in the streets, those right wing militia groups will do very bad things and there will be riots. And that’s nothing to laugh about.

I honestly dont think that will be as bad as some think it is but that is a discussion for another time.

At 320,000 votes, Iowa's at about 20% of its 2016 totals already, and that's without any Saturday in person voting days yet. About 60% are from registered Dems.

early votes can be opened the Saturday before election day and can be processed starting that Monday, so the early tallies can be reported shortly after polls close.

Who has access to the vote tallies for early voting?

I guess what I’m asking is, can republican secretaries or thr like get wind of counts early and start trying to manipulate or argue fraud? Or is that kind of thing pretty secret until the end?

I would think that it could be done through exit polling if it's in person... That would work just like on election night. It's a small sample size but could be extrapolated out...

I would assume only election officials have the ability to look at it until the polls close...but in 2020 who knows anymore. I know when Evers was elected in WI the Walker camp was partying like rock stars late into the night as Walker was leading because no one outside of the election officials knew about the absentee ballots. IIRC MSNBC by accident was at the party live right about when the rumors hit because all of a sudden everything seemed to slow down there and everyone got quiet. When the rumor was there was a flash drive with all of the absentee votes on them and where they were from Walker's party all but stopped and like 15 minutes later Evers had the lead for good. One of the best up and down nights of watching the elections I have ever had :-)

I have to think any GOPer with a brain is looking at the early voting numbers right now and is freaking out. We arent even halfway through October and 11% of the people who voted last time have already voted. Wisconsin and Michigan...states he needs to hold are already at 25% of their 2016 totals. Georgia is at roughly 18%. With the way those votes seem to skew to Biden it is definitely not a good time to be be a GOP candidate.

This is why these lame versions of the October Surprise arent going to have the same effect the Comey Letter did. (there are other reasons too like Biden is way more likable than Hillary) By the time they get traction another 2-3 million votes have been cast so those people don't care. I mean yeah the low percentage of undecideds might be affected but I am not sure that is going to matter.

Assume in red states the GOP will get all the info they want, legal or otherwise. If at all possible they will change or foul the counts. African Dictatorship 101 stuff. That is who we are dealing with.

I don't think they count them until late on election day. Basically they can run them through the machines early, but they don't hit the final output button for tallies until Tuesday.

Every election since I've been living here has run this way. Dems get big early leads because all of the early votes in Polk County (Des Moines) get announced quickly after polls close and then the GOP pecks away as the rural counties slowly count.

I forget what the Polk County margin has to be to know who will win at the end of the night. I think it's like D+50,000 for statewide races and D+30000 for the congressional seat.

Wow that is very interesting thanks for the info!

I sincerely hope all the stories about this being a bloodbath doesn't keep people home. You know the Rethuglicans are going to cheat every step of the way which means they're going to interfere/prevent x% of the vote. I am just skeptical it's a lot closer than the numbers predict at this time.

No Dem voter should share/retweet/repost anything that has to do with predictions. All they should be talking about is how to vote early and/or via mail, but as much as possible if safe in-person and early. That's all anyone of us should be talking about. I don't care what the margins are there is no room for error imho when it comes to the possibility of 4 more years of Trump.

I've never been one to claim "I'm gonna leave the country if ___ wins", but I sure as hell won't be in any hurry to come back and I will encourage my eldest son (senior in HS now) to go to Thailand, Japan or Australia for college.
