Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

With talk now starting up again about potential league realignments, it would be a great time to announce a new on campus rink. cmon!

The issue is.....shall we say....percolating. The hurdles haven't changed, but the solutions are within reach.

We're so close. The rink is imminent, we just need that final push. Also Bentley back on the USCHO main page with the top story from Dan Rubin!

Nice article by Dan (FKA eXeSports). Congrats to Steve Weinstein for reaching 100 career points, joining Grieve, Gladiuk, and Switzer.

At the beginning of the season, Bentley split with Sacred Heart, which is playing much better now, including a sweep of Air Force this past weekend. Should be a great game on Friday night, in between the next two snow bands coming through.

Two more wins and Bentley is assured a better than 0.500 season and eliminated for Bottom Feeders Bracket and Futile Four post-season consideration.

Should be good crowd of Bentley students at the JAR tonight, as they do not get a long weekend, as classes meet on Monday, unless cancelled for another snow day.

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

Ok, I have waited over 12 hours for someone else to post something here about Bentley's 3-1 last night, which was a really good game. Bentley dominated in the first period, and should have racked up more than one goal. Sacred Heart tied on a nice shot that the screened Argue never saw. Both teams then played pretty even until Steve Weinstein got the game winner on a laser from the point. Bentley added a PPG late, and should have potted an ENG. Sacred Heart is a better team than their record suggests, and cannot be taken lightly in the post-season.

Very disappointing turn out of Bentley students last night; apparently the shuttle bus from campus was late and slow. More justification for an on-campus rink.

Win the last four, definitely doable, although Army beat Canisius 2-1 last night, and Bentley will have a 20-win regular season.

Once again, it's good to see them win going away. Something has changed, as they are no longer playing just 40 mins. of hockey. It's also encouraging that they seem to be hitting their peak performance at the end of the season.

Still missing Blomquist also.

Watching Jack Eichel in Durham this late afternoon; he and BU are playing awesome hockey, too.

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

The arena took a small step forward last week. It's nowhere near the finish line, but just moved a little closer.

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

Sorry we've been inactive lately. It is indeed encouraging that we're peaking at the right time. Last year we had the longest unbeaten streak in the country... but it was in January, by the end of the year we had slipped a bit and plateaued. There's no reason we shouldn't end the year on a 9 game winning streak, and finish with a 20 win season! We just need to double down on the commitment to playing 60 full minutes of hockey. Anything's possible in this league, and losses to Sacred Heart, Niagara and Army (and that deflating AIC tie) prove that we shouldn't expect anything. I hope we can ride this hot streak into the playoffs, because in hockey there is nothing more dangerous that a hot team come playoff time!

As far as the rink, Schiegs are you a part of some committee? What was this small step forward you mentioned?

Lots of recruits coming in this past month, the future does indeed look bright!

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

I debated posting that little tidbit about the arena, but there are a lot of people that read this thread to whom an arena means a lot. While I can't divulge my source and association with the project, I just wanted to provide something to give hope to those who are sick, tired, embarassed, and humiliated with the JAR.

We are one VITAL step away from the finish line, but it is a daunting step. We could still fall short, but I am more optimistic now than I have been, ever.

I certainly hope you guys get a new rink. Very important step for Bentley. In the meantime good luck with Army this weekend. I'll be there behind the Bentley bench. 0 degrees here this morning hopefully warmer at Tate.

Nice facility there; I attended the AHA tourney at Tate a couple of times before it moved to Rochester. Of course, federal taxpayers will not be able to help build a rink on Bentley's campus.

Just bill it to the MBTA, the state did with the big dig!

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

Arrrggghhh! Do not mention the MBTA around these parts this winter.

See, in Portsmouth, we don't have mass transit to worry about and we only have 128 traffic during the summer when everybody escapes Mass.

Back to the hockey now, hope you get a new rink and a decent concession stand to go with it!
