Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

The two coldest teams in AH facing off. I predict a scoreless ties, going deep into OT. :-D

I think that if Bentley can hold the Lakers scoreless during regulation, the Falcons win. But, if the Falcons spend any time in the penalty box, game and season over for them, as neither their PP nor their PK are working.

Good news that you all probably knew already. Bentley officially exploring a new on campus rink: http://www.uscho.com/2015/03/10/bentley-evaluating-sites-for-a-new-on-campus-arena/

The rumors had been flying around campus and within alum circles for months, but most of us were unwilling to invest a lot of energy in expectations until a plan was officially announced.

Hope that the announcement does not put too much pressure on the team for this weekend, as they need to relax and get back to their play from earlier in the season.

We had known for a few weeks now, after working closely with the school, but it feels incredible to finally be able to announce it. Everyone's efforts and persistence is finally going to pay off. If you build it, we will come! Now let's go get a banner to hang in the new barn!

Or, at least get back to the tourney in Rochester. :-)

I don't know who was watching the game, but Bentley DOMINATED. From start to finish. The shift that Hurst scored on, Bentley had peppered the net with 3-4 shots, hit the post twice and just missed a goal on a one-timer that went wide. Then Hurst finally broke it out of the zone and scored a nice goal to end it. Incredibly frustrating, but that's the way she goes. If we play like that again, we'll be just fine.

Rough game, they played well, just can't put the puck in the net. Play like that today, good things will happen

I will be at the JAR tonight. Caught another exciting OT game at Schneider Arena last night in which my other team, UNH, won. Schneider would be a really nice model for a rink on Bentley's campus.

Problem has been the same for the Falcons their last five games, and much of the past couple of months; they have not been able to put the puck in the net, especially on the PP. I am not optimistic about that changing this weekend, but will be at the JAR tonight regardless.

schiegs my friend I am man enough to admit when I am wrong. I chirped you earlier in the season that neither of our teams would be playing downtown.

All that remains to be seen is if I was completely wrong, or just half..

And, good things did happen, once the Falcons got the first period behind them. That was quite the eruption in the second, for my volcano metaphor of the night. Good to see Kyle Schmidt get the hattie. Jason Argue was outstanding again in net, and a shame that the third Hurst goal with six seconds left knocked him out of the tie for the Div 1 lead in SV%. But, nothing matters now other than the game tomorrow, and if the Falcons come out skating like they did tonight, they should be able to punch their bus ticket to Rochester for the first time in four years.

Chirp on. Polite gets boring after awhile.

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

I forgot to give a shout out to the Falcons Nest fan section, who were louder than their numbers might suggest on Saturday night. Perhaps we will have a larger Falcons fan base tonight, as students return from spring break?

Mercyhurst had over a hundred fans at the JAR last night, one who took offense at something said and slapped a Bentley student in the face. No charges were filed, as far as I know, but I would have filed for physical assault. The cops were all hanging out near the concessions, so obviously did not witness the incident. Hope that there is not further violence at the game tonight.

Wow, thats insane...I don't think I've ever seen that happen at a college game...what a shame the hurst fan couldn't keep his hands to himself. I would have been ****ed.

There have been people who I thought have gone into the Corner Crew with the intent to start something. Luckily, cooler heads prevailed there.

There was some back and forth taunting going on as some Bentley students walked by the Mercyhurst section where I was sitting, but perhaps it was worse than I heard. But, no excuse for physical assault. Someone stepped in to break it up before things escalated before I had a chance to respond.

At a game last year against RIT, there was a student who kept going to the Tigers penalty box and yelling and banging on the glass each time a player was sent there. Cops or JAR staff did nothing about this and eventually, a Tiger fan went down and stood between the kid and the box. It came close to a fight breaking out but luckily, the kid backed off. and never approached the glass again.

I'm all for fan enthusiasm and some good natured rubbing but the staff and cops should do a better job of paying attention to what's going on and deal with it before it gets out of hand.

I believe they were got the same training as the AHC officials in regards to keeping things under control!

Enjoy the game tonight!
