Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

Re: Bentley Falcons 2014-2015: If You Build It, They Will Come

You guys get a Mercyhurst team that didn't look in synch on defense all weekend in Rochester. I'd say you have a good chance to make it past them.

Wheels have fallen off the wagon; PP is abominable, going 0 for 9 and giving up two shorties against Sacred Heart. May get lucky and host Air Force at the JAR in two weeks. Hate to say it, but the way our Falcons are playing of late, I do not see them getting to Rochester this year.

And the collapse continues; so strange.

If the final four games of the regular season are any indication, it sadly does not appear that the Falcons are going to be beating anyone in the postseason. Too bad, as this team had the second best power play in the country through the first half, and really appeared that they had turned the corner putting together two good halves of a regular season for a change. But, perhaps the injury bug got the best of them, with some out of the line up and others playing hurt.

At least we made it to mid February before the colapse this year.

From the cheap seats, after the fact.

Provide me a way in which to mock you in real time and I'll be happy to oblige :)

By the way, does the JAR have anything but cheap seats?

I think you guys have to be favorites against Mercyhurst. You're at home and Mercyhurst, in addition to the long bus ride, has lost four straight so they're not exactly coming into the JAR brimming with confidence. The Friday night game should set the tone, win that, gain some confidence, and go from there.

Thanks, Downstate. But, it is your Tigers that are peaking at the right time.

Maybe before the game? Real easy to wait until after the score is up to lob the cheap shots.

You started it chief when you hopped into our thread to say we didn't belong in the ECAC cause we were a middle of the pack AHC team. Sorry that you can't handle how the season ended up. Maybe you should just stick to your own thread from now on lest you risk further embarrassment.

There is embarrassment on here? I'm more embarrassed with our governor in New York state than with anything posted on here.

Sure I want the guys on AIC to win more, but they'll be fine. They have some of the best grades in all of the AHA and they'll go on and have jobs that make more than I do. Does that give them more wins on the ice. Absolutely not. I'll survive and i'll proudly support them in the stands.
And Schiegs will be fine too. (Though you could have beaten H.C. so we didn't have to go to Air Force.)

We seated at least 860 in the JAR for the seniors' night finale, so that was a big improvement in fan support.

All posters, trolls, etc., welcome on our thread, as we do not have many regulars. :-)

Schiegs, have you heard anything from the Bentley BOT meeting this past weekend about building a rink on campus?

I was encouraged to hear Dean Shepardson speak on the AH TV intermission of the HC game and voice his support no only for the program and the coaching staff, but also eluded to the fact that an on campus rink announcement was coming in the next couple of months. He mentioned that it would be when, where, how stuff.

I am just glad that it looks like the most of the league is finally trying to do something to improving what their hockey programs have in terms of facilities. It at least shows there is commitment from the schools for their programs and that everyone is at least trying to compete for recruits.

Arenas are only the outwardly visible investments. Plenty of programs have been investing in other, less visible pieces of their programs for a long time. It's been a gradual, consistent process by design. Bentley has gradually ramped up to 14 scholarship equivalencies, and others have also made the same investments. (Personally, I think scholarships are many times more valuable than an arena.) So, don't think anything new is afoot.

Alas, don't celebrate an arms race too much. It puts pressure on some programs to consider dropping the sport altogether, putting the conference's health at risk.

And... for a program like RIT that can't offer scholarships, be careful what you wish for. You may get passed by a bunch of mouthbreathers.

That is encouraging; thanks for posting, Ronnieb.

Just bumping up from the third page. Hope that the Falcons have been working hard on their power play with the extra week off. Will be interesting to see if any of the Falcon's Nest students return from spring break early for the games against Mercyhurst this weekend.

You can count on at least 6 of us!
