Unfortunately your close personal friendship with the BC head coach makes it impossible to have an honest conversation about the state of the program. I know you don't honestly believe that the BCWIH program is in good hands and is headed in the right direction but I admire your loyalty as a friend.

FYI I speak to BC people and other women's ice hockey fans all the time and there isn't 1 person I have spoken with who is happy with what's going on with BCWIH. Not one. As a matter of fact, almost every conversation I have usually starts with " What's wrong with BCWIH?"

You have over 50 posts and how many are personal attacks on the coach? And, I know, you'll call me names, it's okay, as I said I'm old, I can take it. But at least Im not a keyboard warrior who hides my identity and constantly trashes people. Grant and I love BCWIH, and we stand behind the program, maybe just like I would always stand behind the local pro teams. They don't always win, sometimes they are terrible, but we wait and eventually good things happen......

Sure I do. Our scoring is frontloaded with freshmen and sophomores (I think it's 60% of our goals or something?) and I'm pretty sure we've got a few USA/CAN U18s coming in as freshmen. We're in for a great couple years here. It's fine if you don't think so but suggestions of blowing it all up are just going to set the program back years when we're just going to have to find someone who will have to coach with the same institutional headwinds that Coach Crowley is dealing with.

The youth in the program is a big factor, but the main overarching reason Crowley is the coach I want for us right now, in this moment, when we've been mid for a few years and have ourselves set up for future success with young talent is this:

She is the one who took us from nobody to power program after the Mutch situation. She is the one who brought us *back* to power program after we thought it was all over when Schaus/Stack/Thunstrom graduated. We've been in this situation before and she's brought us back to the top not once but twice. I would like the coach with experience rebuilding the program to be the one in charge of the rebuild (which is already well underway).

Just because I've been following the program since 2006 and have seen what Crowley's done as the coach doesn't mean I "can't have an honest conversation." It's exactly that history of following the program that makes my opinion carry some weight, I think.

Even you surely must admit that the freshmen and sophomores are impressive, particularly so towards the end of the season.

I will add lastly that I suppose I should be grateful that women's hockey is at a point where randos who don't follow the sport are showing up with no prior posting history shouting HURR DURR FIRE THE COACH!!!111!!11one!11! Every football and basketball message board for every major school has the same knuckledraggers who show up every year. So maybe this is a sign that we've finally made it as a sport!

Here is information on bc's incoming freshmen class...

Alaina Dunn - Defense... Was on the Team USA 2024 and 2025 rosters
Ava Thomas - Forward...Probably bc's best recruit in this class. Also a Team USA member in 2022,2023, and 2024.
Maxim Tembley - Forward... Canadian recruit from Stanstead College. Was originally a Colgate commit but changed to bc
Maddie Murphy - Defense... Was on the 2023 Team USA roster.

No question that this is a decent recruiting class.

Look, the issue is more about what other teams around the country are doing. bc's class would likely be considered middle of the pack in the WCHA and ECAC.

Take a look, if you care to, at the incoming freshmen for these ECAC teams... With the caveat that this is my opinion so take that for what its worth. These are freshmen classes that I would rate above bc's. Plus Harvard's is pretty darn good as well...right there with bc's. Below is a link to reference the freshmen classes.

I will say looking at some of these classes (Clarkson and Quinnipiac each with 11??? How is that even possible?) that being a huge class doesn't necessarily correlate with being a good class.

If you know high school hockey well enough to say that those schools' players are better than BC's then I'll have to defer to your judgement, because I wouldn't have the slightest idea. I've only even kind of looked into BC's players, and they sounded pretty sporty even by your own description.

By the way I'm pretty sure Tremblay was a Canada U18 as well.

I am sick and tired of watching good players leave the program. I am sick and tired of watching other programs blow by us as we celebrate top 4 finishes in the worst conference in the country.

What's amazing to me is you get upset every time I talk about a coaching change. You claim to be this huge fan of the program and yet you continue to support the coach after 8 years of this ? Sorry but I'd have more respect for you if you just came out and admitted that the BCWIH coach was a personal friend and that you were going to continue to support her.

I watched the women's Frozen 4 and holy cow was that good hockey ! Has anyone seen Boston College ? Does anyone else remember when they used to be a national contender ?

If @TonyTheTiger20 and others are still content with the direction that BCWIH is headed than you should have your heads examined. Does BC have a single player that could play in that game ? Sorry no disrespect to either #14 or #18 but I don't think so. And #9 on D ? Sorry no chance. No one is ever going to convince me that these top players don't want to come to BC. Sorry not buying it.

We are MILES apart from these programs. No one is ever going to convince me that BC cant be a national contender every year. Sorry again I'm just not buying it. Only a loser would be content with this annual crap. Only a loser would say that BC is never going to be on the same level as a Wisconsin and a Minnesota. The right coach would have us competing in the NCAAS within 3-4 years. I can almost guarantee it.

Why is our recruiting so bad. Why do we seem roll out a roster year after year with a bunch of D3 players ? Why are we not recruiting in Canada ? Why are we not recruiting in Europe ? Our assistant coaches come from Merrimack and Dartmouth ? Has either one of these programs ever had success recruiting anyone ? Last time I looked they were 2 of the worst programs in the country. Do these assistant coaches even know how to identify and recruit a top player ??? Does Kinger recruit ? if no then who is doing the recruiting ? Why did Kennedy leave ? I have heard she did 99% of the recruiting. Does anyone else take notice that 2/3 of the Kaz finalists come from New England including 1 from Milton Mass ! I have heard that neither player ever even visited BC ! Is that normal ? NEVER VISITED BC ? are you serious ? Please tell me that is not possible.

I don't follow the NCAA transfer portal but I pray that some of BCs top players stay but I have to ask . Why would they stay ?

In an attempt at some balance in the discussion, so to speak, I mentioned bc's recruiting class for next year a little ways back on the thread. It is not as dire as RD9 is making it out to be. They do have 4 good recruits coming in, One candian in the mix and all four with U-18 experience.

So far, no bc players in the portal. Something to keep an eye on there and maybe they can pluck a couple of players from the portal as well? So who knows how that all shakes out, except for those few enlightened slOwSU posters. Are they going to be at a level with where the top WCHA teams are. No. But they should be in the running to finish first in Hockey East next year. Maybe that is a step in the right direction to begin with?

I have.a great idea. Why don't you follow another team? Or at least stop following BC. If you love BC as much as you say you do, you wouldn't get on a public forum constantly and keep throwing players numbers and coaches names out there (the ones you don't like). As I said before, just because a team doesn't perform year to year or for years and years (think Red Sox, bruins etc), doesn't mean we follow yankees, canadiens and others. Here's what I think. There are so many D1 teams but not enough top notch hockey players to field tons of top notch teams. Kids and parents want money. Is the money in the Minnesota's, Ohio State, Wisconsin etc. I know not what I'm talking about regarding this subject but my guess is the kids will flock to the teams where there is money, an olympic coach, teammates from USA camps, etc. A number of reasons why they go to the other schools.

That's how detectives solve many a mystery -- follow the money. Long before NIL money, the programs that spent the most had much of the success.
