BC Women's Hockey '14-'15: #SOAR

Re: BC Women's Hockey '14-'15: #SOAR

Thanks -- they're calling for 15-30 inches here in Connecticut. Just hope I don't lose power! I can handle hanging out inside for a few days.

Fortunately I live a half mile from a Stop & Shop and can walk there even if our driveway takes a couple extra days to get plowed like last time. They had to bring in a front loader

Heard a newscaster at noon say to not think this storm is being over sold, and not to even leave the house during the worst of it. Who waits to shovel 3 feet of snow at once? My snowblower tops out long before then! MA has a mandatory driving ban after midnight tonight. In the Live Free or Die state, we are "encouraged to stay home if possible" tomorrow. Enjoy~

Re: BC Women's Hockey '14-'15: #SOAR

why? because the scores arent 8-0 every game? maybe this is the rough patch?? as long as they get it together for the two tournaments no need to #panic but please explain
They are playing weak competition. Providence is very, very bad. Vermont has has been struggling. QU was the exception.

It is clear they aren't playing up to their capability and that's a problem. They can half-ass their way to wins against the bottom of Hockey East but if they are playing at this level come tournament time they will be in for an early exit.

ok, thanks Joe. I'm paying a lot of attention to them. I'd love to see an NC for the school from somewhere other than Jerry's teams

I'm Grant haha Joe is joegrav. But yeah that's why. They have the talent but they are not in the right mindset right now. Someone needs to LIGHT A FIRE UNDER them and soon.

joe=grant and grant=joe, you know i cant ever get it straight but being a joe myself , i should :o.....is the coach one to administer the boot when needed? it would be a shame to not cash the ticket this year with this group

don't be sorry...no problem here...they can, however, use it for toilet paper

Am I missing something as a neutral observer? Are you buddies kidding each other? If not, I think Teddie gets two minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct. TTT may only be right 90% of the time, but he's a super fan for women's hockey and BC. Show some respect. If it's all kidding, then shame on me for a terrible post. Otherwise, you go to the box for two minutes and feel shame .

Well we are buddies but I think he's genuinely unhappy with my take lol.

Having said that I think using something electronic as toilet paper is a recipe for disaster :D At least you can hang up an iPad or something for bulletin board material!

Re: BC Women's Hockey '14-'15: #SOAR

The Harvard loss to Princeton puts our lacklustre performance against Princeton into perspective, and so almost every non-blowout since Christmas has an explanation:

BU 4-3: Switaj took a period to settle down
NU 7-3, 9-1: No explanation necessary :-)
Vermont 4-0, 2-0: Vermont beat BU and raise themselves against good teams
Quinni 2-1: Quinni are an extremely good team, especially defensively, and there was nothing to fault about BC's effort here.
Princeton 4-2: Princeton are like Dartmouth, or Vermont with a better floor: they have the pieces there to make trouble for anyone without being a team you can bet on to win any particular game.
Providence 4-2: This is the one that doesn't have an explanation.

Even so, it feels like there's been a drop off in intensity in 2015. Each individual game has an excuse and some (NU, Quinni) don't need one, but overall it feels like a pattern. Having been there at the Princeton game, that was the worst performance I've seen from them this year in terms of sharpness: passes were going all over the place, there was a ton of turnovers, not a ton of offensive zone pressure.

Everyone else of the top teams seems to have slowed down in 2015 too: Wisconsin have a loss and a tie and an unconvincing performance against Kato even leaving out the Minny game, Minny have a tie, Quinni have not broken through against ranked opposition, Harvard have losses to Dartmouth and [fixed] Princeton, BU have lost to Vermont and came within 5 minutes of tying U Conn yesterday, UMD would rather forget the UND series. So I don't see a reason to panic about the national tournaments. But it'd be nice to see more of the sharpness and passion of November/December back out there on the ice.

That was very well said.

I'd say "panic" is way overstating it. I'm not panicking, but I don't think they will win the tournament with the way they are playing now. Fortunately obviously the talent is still there from earlier in the season, I just don't think they are playing as sharp as they need to be. That's fixable and that's why I'm not really worried.

Frustrated with their performance, yes, but not worried.
