BC Women's Hockey '14-'15: #SOAR

Re: BC Women's Hockey '14-'15: #SOAR

Being serious for a moment, I think it is good for BC to have had a competitive game. Cupcakes do develop some sloppy habits and some of those were on display tonight.

Re: BC Women's Hockey '14-'15: #SOAR

Pfalzer is back in the lineup! FANTASTIC news.

I saw that!! Good for her, but I have to say I am shocked having seen the injury. Hope she has not come back too soon and that the BC medical staff did the proper due diligence. Hard to imagine that she isn't concussed and less than a week to return is pretty much always too fast for a concussion.

Much like Keller, you can't stop the unstoppable, you can only hope to slow it down.

The crazy thing is that you can seriously argue that Keller is our sixth best defenseman, at least considered purely defensively, of the full-time D: Pfalzer, Bender, Johnson, Flanagan, Miano, Keller. The three upperclassmen clearly have more experience, and of the three freshmen you can easily make the case that Keller makes more mistakes and allows more turnovers than Miano or Flanagan. And yet she's in the conversation for the national team, is explosive going forward, has as good hands as an elite forward, has counted to infinity twice and can slam a revolving door. It's amazing the depth BC has on D this year.

So when will the Keller jokes stop? I think she has lived up to the hype.
Sigh. Keller was NEVER the butt of the joke. The joke was about the hype itself. Let a kid step on the ice at least before proclaiming her the greatest thing since skate sharpeners. She's an excellent player, to be sure. I think, I've been more impressed with Tori Sullivan, maybe because I didn't have to put up with the same sales pitch in advance.

Couple links:

and,

NU changed their goalie SIX TIMES in this game:

Six goalie changes? Whoa Nelly...can't say I've ever seen that before. EN for 5 seconds??? What's that about? BTW, great to see Pfalzer back.

Those are usually delayed penalties. The time looks about 10 seconds off in the box score, but I'd guess it is just an admin issue.

There was one glorious occasion back in the late 1980s when the Gophers changed goalies on the fly; Doug Woog said that he wanted to give Robb Stauber the rest of the game off but didn't want to go through the usual fanfare of a goalie change. I have no idea if any time with an empty net is recorded on that but it was just an example of how wacky the Robb Stauber Era was. It wasn't as good as the time he flattened someone coming in on a breakaway with a great shoulder check, though.
