In any case, the mood on the women's forum is typically quite relaxed. I know that there are all sorts of political and sports forums out there where the norm is to get belligerent on every other post, but this isn't that type of place. We are all fans of the kids who play the game. That's why we are here. Once in a while, someone will post something derogatory about a player. When that happens, you'll know it; you won't have to make it up.

Reading and acknowledging this should appear under a "Terms of Agreement" section for all forum posters!

Having said that I do have an NHL card of her that I would like for her to sign for me.

People are seldom serious when they are being humorous, although from your post, maybe humor is a foreign concept to you. This isn't the first time that hyperbole has been used to describe a player on this forum, although I'll hazard a guess that Ms. Keller is more talented than the previous cases I remember. Nobody is getting trashed, and I doubt anyone else read the post in question and thought it was a slight of Ms. Keller.

In any case, the mood on the women's forum is typically quite relaxed. Just to finish the process of overexplaining the joke: upthread, sheagle008 claimed (http://board.uscho.com/showthread.p...Hockey-14-15-SOAR/page2&p=5983997#post5983997) that Keller was "the best incoming freshman defense-woman in the nation". The flat-out certainty of the statement struck some of us as amusing and started a forum injoke of making extravagant claims about Keller (Grant suggested that the National team should play a Keller-Keller-Keller forward line with Keller-Keller defensive pairing, I nominated Megan Keller as top team in Hockey East this year, etc). FiveHoleFrenzy's post is just continuing that joke. No offense is meant to Ms Keller herself.

The funny thing, of course, is that USA Hockey clearly agree with sheagle008, as Keller is the only incoming defender who made the National Team Evaluation Camp. And having seen her in action there, watched her in the U22 series, and talked to other people who've followed her more closely, she really does seem to be an exceptional player. Looking forward to this year. Hope to see you at the games, Ted -- I'm the one with the 8yo daughter in a Skarupa jersey.

Well said. Keller has the talent and she is part of a very good recruiting class for BC. No question about that.

I should also say that I am working my way towards being a moron, but in order for me to be a "complete" moron, I will need to resort to calling other posters names and hoping that I "meet" them at the rink.

You're wrong. A person just signing on (I see you've been a member since March 2013) would go back through the posts and understand that everything was said in a good-natured way. The posters don't think the thread is a joke but there is nothing wrong with keeping things a bit light-hearted. If you don't like that kind of a forum, then gather up your toys and go home.

All of the people you are disparaging for their off - season (and possibly off-color, but certainly not malicious) comments have been contributors to this forum for YEARS, and meet and greet regularly when our teams play each other, because we all share a common respect for the game and the players. If you learn to lighten up, you too can be a member of this community, if not, maybe you should visit another forum or start your own thread. Your disclaimer could be that all forms of humor or camaraderie are prohibited.

It will be a long 4 years for you if you try to clean the grease of a well oiled machine
