hey!

congrats on beating syracuse!! well done.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

ugh. might actually mean something if bc wasn't so terrible otherwise.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

More one trick pony fun... to the best of my knowledge, here are the second lines for some of the other best teams in the country and their production, vs. the production for BC's second line. Someone correct me if I was wrong in identifying who the second line is.

Minnesota:
Kloos, Condon, Cammarata
26 pts, 18, 17.... 61 pts

Union:
Cruice, Vecchione, Ciampini
6, 18, 26... 50 pts

Lowell:
Campbell, Fallon, Chapie
6, 12, 21... 39 pts

Quinnipiac:
Peca, Clifton, St Denis
26, 9, 24 .... 59 pts

BC:
Fitzgerald, Cangelosi, Brown
25, 23, 21 .... 69 pts
Big Deal!... They're SOFT!!!

AND... given that G-A-H factor in at least 75% of BC scoring, this is only about what, 10%? ;)

I'm missing something. I know it. Hoky, help me out here... ONE TRICK PONY! ONE TRICK PONY!
:D :D :D

Good work Joe. How about third and fourth lines? Can you do it?
FWIW... I don't think there's a 4th line out there that can match our #4. Hell, not many 3's that can. Our ace in the hole IMO.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

hold that thought......

not that i care but your 2nd line for Union for example has prob played together two or three times, if that. that is not there second line

the bc line you mention has not played that many games together rither. also, how many points did those two get when hayes was with vs after he left

I already provided you with that information.

Pat Brown has not played with those guys at all. Cangelosi and Fitzgerald haven't skated with Hayes or Gaudreau since November. Deny their numbers all you want, at this point you can't deny they are legit. They have scoring numbers that would put them at the top of most teams' lists.

Who would you consider to be Union's second line? I am genuinely curious because I'd like to know actual facts rather than make things up. Tell me and I'll update my post accordingly.

Does it matter? BC has a very good team. They can score 4 lines deep, plus scoring from the D, have very good goaltending and are NOT soft.

You are basing your ONE TRICK PONY theory on if G-A-H were take out of the lineup, BC wouldn't be nearly as good. Well, no chit. Take away any team's 3 best players and you have weakened their team.

Your one trick pony theory gets blown out of the water time after time with proof of stats.

Why don't you attack this from a different angle? Why not tell us about the teams whose 2nd, 3rd and 4th lines are going to make our 2nd, 3rd and 4th lines look silly? Give us something to sink our teeth into, eh?

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

I know it doesn't matter how many numbers prove his argument wrong, hoky will keep moving the goalposts, but put another way:

Points of the teams' leading scorers:

BC: 61, 50, 44, 25, 23, 21, 16, 15, 15, 13
U : 30, 26, 25, 23, 23, 21, 21, 18, 17, 15
MN: 30, 28, 25, 25, 22, 20, 19, 18, 17, 14
QU: 37, 37, 30, 27, 26, 24, 19, 17, 14, 13
UML:24, 21, 18, 16, 15, 14, 14 ,14 ,14, 12
StC:30, 29, 28, 28, 19, 19, 18, 17, 16, 16
WIS:27, 26, 21, 21, 20, 18, 17, 15, 13, 13

So... again. BC's production from scorers 4-10 is on par or better than what every other elite team in the nation is doing.

Add in the fact that BC has gotten championship-caliber defense and goaltending lately, plus they've had very good penalty kill and good power play... that's about as many tricks as a team could have. Even if G-A-H slowed down from their 2G/gm pace BC would still be an elite team.

The only knock you can have on BC's offense beyond the top line is that unlike line #1, lines 2, 3 and 4 don't completely blow away every other elite team in the country, they only blow away average teams and are on par with elite teams. Oh no!

And another stat because why not:

The 2013/14 Eagles are averaging 4.39 g/gm ...1.97 g/gm from the GAH line.......... so a total of 2.42 goals/gm from other players.

To compare that to what an actual one-line team looks like: last year BC scored 3.37 g/gm... 1.66 g/gm came from Gaudreau, Mullane, and Whitney.... so the rest of the team managed just 1.71 goals/gm.

Ya but.... those 25, 23, 21, 16, 15, 15, 13 would only be 9's & 10's if you take away points when any one of the big three were on the ice.
C'mon... one trick pony! :D

STOP IT!
You will render Hoky speechless... and then what fun will we have? ;) :p

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

Could the #1 Ice Hockey team in the country be next?

Definitely, especially since they are playing a good team. In order for it to be a parallel with this shootyhoops result they would have to be unanimously #1-ranked and lose to someone like Sacred Heart
