Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

The original < film name here > was so good -- did they just turn writing/direction over incompetents for the sequels for it to have fallen so far?

Updated quote to cover 90% of Hollywood productions.

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

I had to binge "Ant Man" and "Deadpool" recently (man-cave, 65" plasma) to catch up on superhero flicks and I'm still three behind.

SvB: DoJ*
CA: CW
X: A

*So I've read the spoilers; call me old school but Martian Manhunter > Cyborg. Ain't close; then again, my SiouxSports.com avatar is The Specter.

You mean "The Spectre"? Must be a huge fan ;)

(Spectre rules btw)

Concussion:

Very good. Will Smith NAILS the Nigerian accent (I've worked with Nigerians before) and the subtleties in voice inflection are perfect. There is no wonder why the NFL was against this movie.

Watched deadpool, certainly wasn't a disney movie. Pretty funny, might have to watch it again.

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

I watched X-Men: Apocalypse today. It was decent, not great. It's better than talk I'd gotten from the sites, but I thought they could've done more with the Apocalypse character himself. He seemed too weak.

Kilo Two Bravo

Based on true story about a British squad in Afghanistan that happens to end up in an unmarked minefield. Really gritty, suspenseful, and very well done.

Reshoots ordered for Rogue One

A quote inside the story reveals the exact time line of the film: “This takes place just before A New Hope and leads up to the 10 minutes before that classic film begins."

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

Reshoots are pretty standard. While the Negative Nellys will use it as clickbait it means very little. It is like when you hear reports of "script rewrites on the fly" that happens so often it is in reality not newsworthy.

I still dont know if I like the idea of Rogue One, but I am hopeful :)

Actually the most disturbing part of the report is that Disney is having them reshoot parts because it isnt in line with what they want it to be. Disney has a history of stuff like that. I get what they are saying about the tone, but the story takes place during The Rebellion at a key moment leading up to A New Hope...it shouldnt be all 4 color quipy and...it should be more in line with a war movie. The Galaxy is in the midst of its darkest times, a period of upheavel and Empirical/Fascist rule. Every action taken is treason...

Maybe they're guessing by December Americans will be getting too much of that at home...

That's the part that is worrying people. Hopefully Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams are able to reel in the wayward Disney execs and let them tell the story their way.

My review of SvB: DoJ: Meh.

And Martian Manhunter is still better than the four that they hinted.

I have no plans to spend money on that movie. I might catch it if it's streaming on HBO next year, even then I'm not sure. It just looked boring and far too brooding to capture my attention for almost three hours.

Boring and brooding? So you have seen it. ;)

The best performance was Eisenberg playing the criminally insane megalomaniac super-villain "Alexander" Luthor. He may own that the way Downey owns Iron Man or Jackman owns Wolverine.

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

The NBA Ghostbusters commercials all look better than the actual movie so far.

That Gal...Who Was In That Thing

Doc about a few women who discuss women's roles in Hollywood, and the lack of opportunities they have due to (insert sex, race, weight, etc). Interesting, for sure, some of the stories they have are great (for lack of a better word). The women involved come from many different "typecast generic roles" so a broad spectrum is involved. If you love movies/tv, you'll appreciate this one.
