Going back a bit I always had a soft spot for Natalie Wood's classic beauty.

One of the pleasures of staying at the Hollywood Slots hotel is that their theme is classic stars. When you walk in you see movie posters like Casablanca and Gone with the Wind; and pictures of all the glamorous stars of that era. They have a picture of one beauty that caused me to do a double-take. Most of us know her from Bonanza or the Thorn Birds miniseries when she was older, but Barbara Stanwyck was a stunner.

Lotta them old actresses are beauties. To keep it open, Ann-Margret. To push the border, Sally Field.

Deadpool

This had me at the opening credits. What a great movie.

That wasn't a real movie, someone spliced together scenes from different movies and shows to make it look like an Avengers movie. That "Iron Man" was actually a different character altogether.
Ahhhh.

Thx.

Well, The Destroyer being Gene Simmons in KISS makeup, Hawkeye from MASH, and then all of KISS showing up was sort of a give away. :D

Pretty sure they used the Paul Linde Halloween Special from 1976 as the base. And was that Tim Conway dressed as a devil at the end of it?

I missed most of the end sequence, but could tell right away when I saw footage from the horrible 70's Capt. America movie, and Lou Ferrigno's Hulk show up with scenes cut from his show.

In truth, KISS showing up in full makeup and costume wouldn't give cause to doubt it. That band whored itself out there all the time. The only person better at merchandising in the 1970s than Gene Simmons was George Lucas. Heck, they just released a Scooby-Doo special last Halloween.

Those Kiss sequences were probably from their TV movie Kiss Meets The Phantom, if I remember the title correctly.

The Retrieval

On the outskirts of the U.S. Civil War, a black boy is sent north by his bounty hunter gang to retrieve a wanted black man. In exchange, the boy gets his freedom.

I really liked it. Good slow drama, a little coming of age, and obviously a moral compass thing going on. Worth a watch, for sure.

Saw the Conjuring 2 last night. The first 1:50 is creepy as hell. The final 20 minutes are too fast-paced and everything is wrapped up too neatly. It's almost like they didn't know how to end it. The studio has the rights to produce movies based on 25 more of the Warren's cases so there are more sequels to come.

Woman In Gold

Maria Altmann, an octogenarian Jewish refugee, takes on the Austrian government to recover artwork she believes rightfully belongs to her family.

Mirren was spectacular (duh) as Altmann, and Ryan Reynolds (yes, the same one you're thinking of) did very well as her lawyer. Based on a true story, and I really enjoyed it.
