Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

...so I'm a Star Wars nerd I guess...

Forest Whitaker asks the protagonist "what will you become?" In reference to her continuing to fight apparently...

Will she turn? Is she...Captain Phasma?

The saga is replete with turns like this

I hope not...lets not connect everything. Why is it coincidences dont seem to exist in a galaxy far far away ;)

Maybe this movie will be more realistic in terms of exposing grey areas. Dispense with the Jedi vs sith light vs dark mythology and widen the palette?

Sorry, I'm just jazzed on these new SW movies and can't help myself with the speculation and hype😀

Oh no need to apologize, happens to me all the time :) I wasnt raining on your parade just saying I hope this movie is its own deal and that it doesnt need to go all Lucasy and connect everything :)

This one takes place between III and IV? I am very interested regardless as it looks great.

And not sure if everyone else sees the same short blip after the trailer ends in which some woman is about to interview Mark Hamill, but he looks like a lost in space (mentally) hobo. :D

I couldn't tell if he was trying to recreate the look he gave at the end of Episode VII, or if it was him, for some odd reason, getting into character to deliver a line for his new animated Batman movie - The Killing Joke - he voices the Joker in the animated series.

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

Mark Hamill is the greatest of all the Jokers.

He's done a fair amount of voice over work in video games. Not as prestigious as feature films but it pays the bills.

Add to that, a voice actor can take on more roles than a screen actor can. If you look at the people who are most successful/prolific as screen actors, their resumes on IMDB are huge. They'll have six or more credits to their names in any given year, and many of the credits mention multiple episodes per credit. Add to that, they have the chance to go about their day-to-day lives with a minimal amount of hassle from the general public, and it's not a bad career move at all.

He was in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and was in an episode or two of Arrow last season or the season before.

He was on The Flash...reprising his role of Trickster who he played on the original Flash show :)

I knew it was one of those CW shows.

The Hateful Eight:

Yup, that sure is a Tarantino movie. Part dark humor, part bloated, and part full of itself. But like most of his movies, it was very good. One difference: I dunno if the casual movie/Tarantino fan would like it.

And everything awesome said about Jennifer Jason-Leigh is justified. She was awesome in this movie. One nit-pick: Kurt Russell reprises his role as Wyatt Earp from Tombstone, with his speech patterns and acting.

Couple docs watched over the weekend:

30 For 30: The Duke Lacross Scandal
Very good, and I was unaware that the accuser is now in jail for murdering her bf. Nifong was a total d-bag and very incompetent (that part I knew, as the case went on).

Lemmy:
Um, it's Lemmy. 'Nuff said. ;) Seriously, though, it's a very honest doc, and Lemmy talks about his faults and everything. It doesn't hide the ugly, nor does it glorify the awesome. Some great candid convos with other musicians, too. You don't have to be a fan to enjoy this one, either.

*adds to Netflix list*

New Suicide Squad Trailer

I am only posting this because earlier the rumor about the reshoots to add humor came up. Unless reshot a lot of humor rather quick then it appears there was plenty anyways ;)

Then David Ayer (director) tweeted "#SuicideSquad “reshoots for humor” is silly. When a studio loves your movie and asks what else you want, go for it! #ThanksWB #moreaction".

Unless it is printed in a trade like The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline or Variety treat any information about any comic book movie as a full on rumor usually perpetuated by a guy who has had either scripts rejected from studios or couldnt get a job in the industry so they started a blog ;) Treat with much salt :D

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

Finally saw Dark Places this weekend with Charlize Theron. Wanted to see it cause the book is by the same author as Gone Girl. I think this one just didn't have the script or the director it needed to be good. The material seemed movie worthy but the interpretation just wasn't there.

Also saw Melissa McCarthy in The Boss. Just an hour and a half of mindless Melissa McCarthy comedy. Not as good as Spy. More in the Tammy range.

Life Of A King:

Cuba Gooding in a feel-good, based on true story about an ex-con who teaches inner-city kids the game of chess. It's about what you would expect from that description.

Forgot to mention another doc I watched this weekend: Beltracchi (The Art Of Forgery):

About Wolfgang Beltracchi, who allegedly forged around 300 paintings over 40 years. Apparently, even high-end auction houses and experts were fooled. While it doesn't say specifically, his most common method was to take an artist who had large gaps between works, and paint a work that was in the style of that artist, artificially age it, and then boom-done.

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

Have yet to hear a bad word about The Jungle Book which opens tomorrow night. Also Marvel has already begun critic screenings for Captain America: Civil War and the embargo on reviews is lifted today, almost a month before it opens. For comparison critics didn't screen BvS until the Tuesday before it opened and reviews were embargoed until Thursday. That should have been a huge flashing warning sign.

Disney has great faith in that and Jungle Book. When a critic went to a screening last week he asked Disney PR when the embargo would be lifted and was told there was none. Disney loves their lineup.

If you want movie and TV news check out Collider.com and the Collider YouTube page. They stream Movie Talk live at 2PM eastern about all things movies, plus weekly episodes of TV Talk (Monday), Heroes (Tuesday), Jedi Council (Thursday) and Mailbag episodes on weekends. The Jedi Council episode up now features Freddie Prince Jr and Sam Witner, two lead voice actors for Star Wars: Rebels. They will have a recap show of Game of Thrones starting the 24th.
