Their claim of it being preparation for overseas battle is a lie. The patterns we have seen in this country are exactly the same as the start of every tyrannical regime in history.

Well, since you're on to them, and they're ruthless, you should be careful.

Re: Bad Cop, Bad Cop, Whatcha gonna do?

Get to know your neighborhood officers and build a relationship with them.

I think that's a pretty basic start.

How about a game of basketball? That should help community relations.

When the officers approached Allegany College of Maryland point guard Samir Hill, he was playing ball with some kids in the neighborhood. The on-duty cops soon decided to trash talk Hill’s basketball prowess, so he challenged them to a two-on-two pick-up game to teach them a lesson.

And Hill proved to be a tough competitor as he and his teammate dominated the boys in blue to the point of embarrassment with ankle-breaking crossover dribbling skills that put the officer’s on the ground.

“We gave them ball first,” Hill described. I was playing on the court two-on-two with my friend Josh — they almost scored on him. We get the ball, and everybody starts pulling out their cameras. The first cop, I crossed him and laid it up. He’s like, ‘I don’t play basketball, I play football.’ So he put his partner on me — the second one, the one I made fall. Everyone went crazy.”

Or not....

But after the video went viral, it seems the officers felt a little butt-hurt. So, like sore losers, they arrested Hill and handcuffed him to a bench for an hour and a half. According to Hill, the officers said they arrested him to target his teammate, which means the officers made a false arrest.

“They didn’t explain it to me. They just took me in there, handcuffed me to a bench for an hour and a half. They were doing a search on the car. They searched the car for like an hour. They didn’t find nothing, and they let me go. The whole time they were telling me how they weren’t going to lock me up, that they were targeting my friend.”

Hill also made it clear that he believe the only reason the officers handcuffed him was because they wanted payback for getting their asses handed to them on the basketball court.

“I think it was because of the video, but they said it was the people I was around. I don’t think it was that though, because most of the kids I hang around are college kids. I think they just wanted to take me down to the district to show who I was.”

Re: Bad Cop, Bad Cop, Whatcha gonna do?

If she was deemed mentally ill what the hell was she doing in a jail cell? Better yet, why was she being supervised by cops when the underlying crime was she punched a cop because of her mental issue? *** did they think was going to happen? This is a top down failure and Alexandria and Fairfax need to be publicly flogged over this.

Re: Bad Cop, Bad Cop, Whatcha gonna do?

The cops investigate themselves, and if the populace gets restless, they give the cop a paid vacation to appease the peons; otherwise, they determine nothing was wrong.

Even so. Who in their right freaking mind uses a taser on someone who is mentally ill and restrained already? In fact which one is the "real" mental patient?

I saw it in a hospital recently, where they drugged a patient just because the patient was cussing at an EMT for tying the patient up like an animal. And then they use an unconstitutional act to defend their actions. This abuse has been happening for years, and has only come to light because of modern technology and being able to film these psychopaths. They're still doing their best to try to cover it up, because they think people are just rabid wild animals.

Let me get this straight. A retired insurance executive donates cash and equipment to the Sheriff's office, gets a spot as a reserve deputy, and kills a suspect in custody because he can't tell the difference between his gun and his taser.

And it really ****es me off that after this man was shot, the focus of the officers didn't switch to "holy sh**, you shot him! We need to get this guy to a hospital!". All they were interested in was continuing to curse him out. Just a statistical anomaly that everyone involved were among the "few bad apples", I suppose.

With the apologists, it's always a "statistical anomaly". It takes them being the victim to understand.

I really didn't appreciate the police chief calling the shooter a victim. Even giving him the benefit of the doubt, he is not in any sense a victim in this.

When the PD does an investigation, the cop is ALWAYS the victim and the citizen, regardless of living status, is ALWAYS the assailent.

Re: Bad Cop, Bad Cop, Whatcha gonna do?

Cops make mistakes. Occasionally fatal. Collectively we have the right to expect the highest level of performance from the people to whom we give badges and guns. And collectively we should err on the side of protecting society when a bad cop is discovered. When I worked in Houston, there was a youngish officer who had shot and killed four young black men. Statistically, there are lottery odds against that happened in the normal course of events. Turned out he was looking for trouble, and finding it. At the time, HPD was a rogue and didn't come into line with accepted police practices 'till mayor Whitmire brought in Lee Brown from Atlanta to be chief.

But there is a difference between guarding against police over reaction and incompetence and mindless, statistically insignificant episodes of bad policing. And anti-cop rhetoric. Millions upon millions of interactions between cops and civilians every year. And only a handful (thankfully) of these horrible outcomes. Police work, even absolutely by the book police work, sometimes looks very ugly. As an alternative, how 'bout the next time one of you whiners is being jacked up by a street punk, you call Mr. Lipschitz from the ACLU. I'm sure he'll be right over, with his Miranda card.
