I'm pretty sure he was making a joke. MF is famously in German. It is partly a brutal paraody and takedown of Italian opera, with the "Queen of the Night" aria a vicious mockery of Italian coloratura airas.

German yes. And indeed subtlety funny. The house is beautiful. Mookie is glad me went. Rookie mistake being impatient and not one to wait in line for the lift, Mookie did the 15 story walk out of covent garden (197 steps). Whew!!!

If you haven't I recommend you watch the Bergmann movie in a few months. It's beautiful and extremely funny.

I recommend you start in Budapest. Then go to Barcelona and then, Warsaw. and it still could have English sub titles even if it's in German.

Be sure to take the backstage tour of the Vienna opera house. Also if you can manage to stay in Austria for a while they have literally a dozen world renowned opera houses.
